DON'T YOU AFRAID OF ME?

We are all searching for someone whose demons play well with ours.

"Wait, do you want to know about the gold dust, right?" Apple couldn't find any other topic that piqued his interest other than this, because the only question that this man asked was about the golden dust.

Oh, Apple wanted to know what that golden dust was, but she was simply more interested in knowing more about him first.

However, her desperate attempt was proven right, the man stopped walking away from her, he turned around, and finally, Apple got the attention that she wanted.

"What do you know about it?" Drustan asked the girl. She looked panicked and her eyes kept looking in various directions. Maybe this was her habit whenever she was nervous.

On the other hand, Apple was trying her best to think about something to answer that question, since she just stated that topic without even thinking twice. There was no way she would say that she, actually, didn't know anything.

Apple was sure a hundred and one percent that he would disappear after she finished saying that.

"Hm…" Apple chewed on her bottom lips. "I think the golden dust will appear again when you are in critical condition…" This was the best thing that she could think of. However, when Apple thought about it again, she was probably right.

"So, I need to be on the brink of death for you to be able to show me?" Drustan asked skeptically.

"No, no… I didn't say that I could show you if you were in bad condition." Hell. Apple didn't know how to. "I think I need more practice. We can practice together." She suggested brightly, finding a lame excuse to see him again. "Maybe after a few times of practicing, I can show it to you."

Drustan didn't say anything when he turned around again, but Apple immediately hugged him from behind.

What was the problem with this girl? How could she hug a stranger so casually?

"If you want to know more about this golden dust, we can work together to find out about it, how is that?" She was still trying.

"Aren't you afraid of me?" Drustan asked. Any other creatures would back away from him whenever they caught a glimpse of him and would think twice about being near him. After all, the dark aura that leaks from his being would scare them away. Even Kama and Dorian wouldn't want to be around him when he was not in full control of himself.

But, Apple seemed to not notice that.

"Why should I?" Apple asked, confused. "Actually, it's quite the opposite, I feel attracted to you."

"You make me cringe," Drustan swatted Apple's hand around him, but then two things happened at the same time.

Drustan made Apple let go of him and then pulled her closer, hid her behind his back, and faced whatever thing that was coming their way. He caught something in the air before it could reach him.

It was an arrow.

Apple didn't see it coming and all of sudden they were surrounded by the same creatures as before. The strange people with black cloaks that covered their faces and black holes at the spot of their mouth.

There were many of them. The number doubled if it was not tripled from the last time.

Apple shriveled behind Drustan, she grabbed his jacket tightly and looked around her worriedly. It wasn't because she was afraid that this man couldn't fight them, but simply because she was not sure if this time he would care about her and fight them while protecting her at the same time.

This man didn't seem interested in her.

"I thought you hated humans." A woman's voice echoed in this empty alley as her figure appeared before their eyes out of thin air.

Apple peeked her head from behind Drustan's broad back and watched a beautiful woman in her long red dress with a high cut on her left thigh, walk toward them, swaying her hips seductively.

The way that woman dressed was akin to someone who would attend a night party, yet the bow and quiver that hung around her hips didn't seem to be the right accessories for that occasion, especially with the hunger in her black eyes when she stared at Drustan greedily.

On the other hand, Drustan didn't respond to that, he kept quiet and just reciprocated the stare that he received from Madissa. She was known as the head of these monkers. She controlled them.

However, that was not the fact that bothered Drustan. For some reason, he didn't want any other creatures to see him with Apple.

Maybe just like what Madissa said; he disliked humans and being caught being with one wasn't something that made him elated.

"But, here you are, with one of them," Madissa said with a beautiful smile that etched on her red lips. "You are even hiding her behind your back."

Apple immediately hid again behind Drustan and spoke in a low voice to him. "You will not leave me here in a situation like this, right?" she asked anxiously. "At the very least, you can walk me home."

Drustan glanced at Apple over his shoulder briefly and saw those green eyes showed him her fear. [Kama.] he called the werewolf through the mind-link. Even though he was not one of them, but he didn't have a hard time using the same method.

As soon as Drustan called him, there was a long howl from behind Drustan, as a big black wolf appeared and seethed his long, sharp fangs, glaring at all the monkers profoundly.

Apple remembered the black wolf, but never thought he could appear so fierce and dangerous like this, given the time she spent a few days with him, he looked like a cute puppy back then.

[Can I clear them up?] Kama asked eagerly through the mind-link.

[Yes.]

That short answer was enough to set the werewolf to go berserk.
