I see our inevitable ending from where I am standing.
I wonder.
Just how will set into motion our inevitable destruction?

In actual fact, it was not Damon, who tried to protect Xierra from all the danger that came toward her because she was the Kairi, but it was Xierra, who had been protecting Damon from himself.
He was the true destruction and danger, his true self was not good at all and if it was not for Xierra, who managed to suppress his malicious instinct, Damon would have been killed by now.
They just discovered about it only a day before her appointed day as the next Kairi.
God of destruction. Damon was a god of destruction. Inside of him, there was this powerful and horrifying power that he held, where he could kill anything around him.
He was one of three powerful gods in this real world and has been missing for centuries. Who would have thought that he would reside in the human soul? A protector of the Kairi, above that. Such an ironic reality…
At that time, Xierra had not yet met Damon, but she had her own judgment on that matter. If Damon was strong enough to destroy anything around him, then he would be impenetrable protection for her. He was perfect to be his own protector.
And since all the Kairi had the privilege to choose their own personal protector, Xierra chose him without a second thought.
Everything was fine and went as her plan and as she predicted, Damon was an excellent protector, until Xierra started to see Damon in a different way.
The feeling was mutual, yet it was something forbidden for them to be together. They would break a thousand rules and endless misery would come after. No one wanted that for each other…
'So, that is what you want?'
A hoarse voice talked in her head, echoed in her ears, but everything was dark and Xierra could see no one. She was alone in this darkness.
'Your protector is the god of destruction… this is shocking news… who would have thought that the god of destruction would make an appearance in this era.'
The voice that Xierra heard murmured to himself, completely immersed with the blow, until Xierra could feel his excitement and thrill for having to know such unpredictable news.
'I should spread the news…' he said to himself again.
Upon hearing that statement, only then Xierra opened her eyes and reached for her dagger. She didn't think twice when she raised her hand and stabbed her own thigh.
But the pain made her stay awake and had her control back from the soul eater.
The excruciating pain sent a jolt to her body as she collapsed to the floor, gasping for air and blood started gushing out from her wound. Her lips trembled when she let out a muffled grunt, while outside was starting to get dark, in the process of the total solar eclipse.

"We can't wait here and do nothing," one of the protectors started to voice out their thoughts. "I don't feel good leaving Kairi with the minister alone."
There were three protectors, who were waiting right outside of the door, and Damon, who was leaning his tall body against the door.
Damon had been trying to listen to the conversation inside, but he could hear nothing. Apparently, the room was soundproof and this fact only made him more restless.
"We can't disobey the direct command," the other protector replied. It was not because they were too obedient, of course, that was not the case, but there was this strong spell that made them comply regardless of what situation they were in.
The last person, who didn't speak, finally opened his mouth and looked at Damon. "Can't you disobey the command? We need to make sure Kairi is fine. She has been there for almost an hour."
Damon, as their superior, because he was the chosen protector, was expected to be stronger than the rest of them, thus probably it was possible for him.
Actually, there was this protocol that they were not allowed to leave the Kairi alone with anyone, but still, there was another rule that said, the direct order from the Kairi held much more power than that.
Meanwhile, Damon didn't answer the question immediately. He stared at the strange gloomy sky, where the total solar eclipse would start, yet did nothing except stay in the same position.
All of them knew Damon's trait, thus they didn't talk again, as they continued to wait for Xierra to come out and hope nothing bad happened to her inside.
Seconds ticked by and they grew even restless when the sky was completely dark.
"Solar eclipse," the protectors said in a whispering tone.
However, what Damon heard was the words from the old man fortune teller about Xierra's fate when the sun disappeared.
No. He couldn't wait any longer than this.
Damon clenched his jaw tightly and balled his fist when he fought the urge to obey Xierra's command and his own will to go through this door, saw with his own eyes that she was fine, that everything was all right and the words from the fortune-teller were only a crap.
However, it was very hard. The spellbound Damon to obey.
It seemed, even though Xierra's power as the Kairi wanted because of the solar eclipse, this spell was different. It was not getting weak at all.
Yet, in the next second, Damon had opened the rushed into the room, when he smelled blood. His instinct told him there was something wrong and that was what pushed him further.
Damon didn't know how he could get inside the room, but what he saw made his blood fumed with anger.
Not far from him, Mr. Zeets lay motionlessly on the floor and Xierra was kneeling, gasping to breathe with a dagger in her hand and a pool of blood beneath her from the wound in her thigh.
However, when she raised her head, she said something unexpected. "Stab me."
