Chapter 25

"Great minds think alike; just as well as twisted minds understand one another so easily."

A sense of foreboding calm filled the air, a certain sense of unsettling tranquillity within the night.

Quick footfalls followed by the heavy thumping steps; with that chase that continued the night itself seemed to turn darker and more foreboding. Unforgiving in every sense of the word, with the late-night chill, the type of chill that lingers like death's fingertips gracing one's skin. The victim ran, flitting through the back alleys, following the twists and turns of the place. It was lucky for them that they knew the area like the back of their hand.

The night turned darker still.

Soon enough the victim's luck run out, and as luck would have it they were surrounded. Shaking with fear but still defiant of such an assured fate they put up a fight even if it was quickly subdued. The other accomplice was also not spared.
