The arrival of a familiar figure, Lucas, brought relief and rescue from an unknown fate. The banquet hall, seemingly alive with guests, was revealed to be a mere illusion, a figment of some unknown magic. The danger that lurked in this place, with its history of unsolved cases and missing people, was palpable. A heated exchange between the seeker and Lucas revealed frustration and anger.
"You're sounding dumb, Oxyvi, you should have waited with Lou for me.... You know nothing about this place, anything could have happened to you tonight. Do you have any idea how many unsolved cases are running, people going missing here and the culprit is unknown yet and if it'll ever be discovered, then most probably, it would be the shadows that haunt this castle? I'd warned you about this place multiple times and yet you ended up here of all places."
"I didn't come here intentionally Lucas. I didn't know what dragged me here, there was this unnatural force, I even forgot about Lou at that time like I was in my own world. I have told you and my answer will be going to be the same every time" I snapped at him, pointing my forefinger at his chest, heels up to match his height, maintaining my eye level with him. I was furious and panicking. I had just gotten out of the misery, and he was scolding me instead of consoling me.
"Such a Moron!" I muttered it out loud. He sighed heavily and helped me to sit on some rock bench. I hadn't realized I was crying until Lucas passed me his handkerchief and a bottle of water.
"Here, drink it" He tried to calm me down. I was turning my face towards the castle but he stopped me. "Don't look at it...You're safe now" As I emerged from my trance, I gazed upon my palm, unblemished by the crimson taint of blood. It dawned on me then, the true terror that those people must have felt, before succumbing to an enigmatic demise. This place, a dark labyrinth of the mind, unearths our deepest fears and thrusts them into the light of day.
"Oh, dear Oxyvi, are you well? Fate has woven a perplexing tale of your sudden disappearance. How could it be that you hast traversed the treacherous 2-kilometer forest cemetery abode, shrouded with arcane wards and electric barriers? It was but a mere blink of an eye, and you hast emerged in this mystic place." Lou hugged me but her words left me in true terror.
"What do you meant by the cemetery lair of 2 km, it felt like it was just near the waiting area" and then I realized time and barriers are nothing for this entity that lurking in the shadows and haunting this castle grounds.
"Oh god Oxyvi I'm so sorry…. you've been tricked and now in the turmoil" Lou sympathized. I hugged her even more tightly and relaxed in her embrace.
"Fear not, Oxyvi, for I am with you now. The horrors you have endured shall not plague you again, for I shall be your shield. Rest now and let your mind ease as I offer you solace," she whispered, her voice a soothing balm upon my wounds. I closed my eyes, and yet, the events of the night continued to play like an enchanted tapestry before my eyes. My body trembled as I tried to recall how I had escaped the clutches of that malevolent shadow which had lurked within the haunted castle. I survived, and yet, I could not shake off the memory of the terror that had ensnared me. Why had it chosen to torment me so?
The sinister smile of an evil entity from the castle's window hints at the presence of raw terror lurking in the shadows.
