"Yes"
I widened my eyes.
"But I assure you that your life shall remain unscathed if you follow my instructions, I'm sparing you for now because I just have doubts for now. However, if you choose to delve deeper into this matter that you are eager to or are already digging, I cannot guarantee your safety. It is not my intention to keep you in the shadows, but it looks like you want to indulge yourself with the dangers that lurking in that castle, you must understand the gravity of this situation beforehand" Alec explained, but his voice tinged with a hint of concern.
If he knew what I felt when I was inside that castle, he must have believed. But also, the way he revealed it to me that the way to chambers was only known by the royals alone. Considering this, his accusations weren't futile. Him believing in the shadows, making me scared because I was trying to accept that shadow was a human and not some spirit and those illusions were because of lack of sleep.
"So, you are somewhere certain about the shadows." I whispered.
I tried to believe too that all the deaths are done by some criminal gang, to steal the luxury and to tarnish and maintain the haunted reputation of premise for some rivalry purpose.
But after encountering those creepy things which perplexed my mind into other dimension possibilities, I have second thoughts.
"I do, but not sure, that's why you are here, Oxyvi." His attentive and meaningful gaze told me that my secrets were unveiled and that he knew something more than meets the eye, the secrets I could not comprehend.
"What rubbish, how will I going to help you find that shadow?" I spat.
My heart raced as I tried to comprehend the gravity of his words. Alec's family had a troubled past, and the ancient castle looming over the town had only added to its infamous reputation. I couldn't shake off that feeling that something sinister lurked in the shadows.
Before I could ask any further questions, Alec handed me an agreement to sign. It stated that I would work for him and be compensated accordingly.
"What is this?"
My suspicions grew as I probed for more details. Alec revealed that the terms of the agreement were to work for him for a year, after which I could never speak a word of what I saw or heard to anyone outside of our circle. I would also lose contact with the outside world for some time. He told me "I decided to the inspection under my scrutiny that's why, In the morning, I appointed Lucas, Lou and you to do the excavation behind the castle grounds within the range of 1 km approx."
I was giving him the look of horror in return he assured me "Don't worry my security team will be with you guys, including me." He grinned.
"Why in the morning, can't I have some rest for one day?"
"There's no rest for you, Oxyvi, from now on you will work according to me, for me, because such a pretty face won't look good behind the bars, right?" He grinned wickedly.
"I didn't sign the agreement yet, Mr. Quinsley. So, I need some time to think" listening to this he laughed and got up from the chair and drew himself closer to me. I fidgeted in the chair trying to back away.
"Who do you think you are taking to Miss Sagitta, I have been nothing but a gentleman to you, don't provoke me." He deadpanned at me. He came closer and intimidated me with his dark look as he stood a step away from me, I gulped and gasped when he put his hands either side of the chair.
"You have to do something special for me that might make you really special" He smirked as he tilted his face to eye the skin of my neck. I glared at him.
"You will accompany me inside that castle." His words left me in pure agony.
