Chapter 28: Ass Istant

Suyi cut her hair short to her shoulder and her face full of pimples. Long hair is a symbol of beauty for people in the east. Women that have a short hair is considered not real women or wild and usually not the kind of people they want to get close to.

Not only her face is full of pimples, she also have a lot of scar all over her body too, even her face. Apparently, encounter a wild animal and get injured is normal for her.

"I thought they said there's beast tide during winter.. what a brave girl, she's maybe braver than Kuji. She's a lot more mature too."

Lucis shake his head as he continue observing her picking up mushrooms that clearly common knowledge as not ideal for consumption. unfortunately, only these kind of plants that still survive in this early winter.

"16 years old kid taking care of two little brother by herself.. what a sad world she live in.. "

Lucis silently teleport behind her and stand on the tree branch.

"you're looking for wild plant to eat?"

Suyi almost pass out surprise by the sudden voice. She fall on her butt and the basket roll down pouring out all the wild plant in it.

"calm down." Lucis slowly floating down from the tree to the ground. He pick up the basket and the wild plant.

"Im.. Immo... Immortal!" Suyi kneel on the ground and bow at Lucis frightened by Lucis appearance. Lucis can float and move around slowly but it's more effective to ride magic weapons because it's faster if he want to fly around.

"stand up.. " Lucis shake his head. he's getting tired of people treating him like that.

"you don't recognize me?"

Suyi lift her head slowly and look at Lucis face. Handsome and if one look closely one can see that his body glowing a bit. Sadly his clothes look uglier than her onw. After all, she and the rest of the villager have a new clothes but Lucis never got his. He still wore the old clothes Elder Dun gave him when he first arrived here.

"lu.. Mister Lucis?" Suyi shout in surprised. she covered his mouth with both of her hand.

"I.. I thought you left the village." Suyi remember who Lucis are. Although she never spoke to him she always saw him and his personality is approachable.

"drop the mister, just call me Lucis. Why are you picking up wild plant in the forest? Isn't there's a lot of wild beast in this winter?"

Suyi silent for a long moment and doesn't know how she should speak at Lucis. She feel that her status is too low to even speak to him.

"I'm not eating people you know.." Lucis said and start thinking how he should tease her.

"er.. actually.. I use half of the supply given by elder Dun to mister Laijin so he can teach my little brother martial arts."

Lucis frown and feel incredulous. This village is already so poor and someone as capable as martial artist still ask for food supply? Isn't that person supposed to be giving away food instead?

"why did your brother want to learn martial arts? Is he even old enough?" Lucis completely shove the idea to tease Suyi. The giver and the receiver is both idiot that he almost make a face palm expression on the spot.

"Erm, he's 12 this year. He wants to be strong like my late father."

"oh." Lucis look at the wild plant on the basket and recall the story about Suyi parents. He's not really that powerful martial artist but he can fight bear bare handed. He's supposed to be the original guard of this village but after he died five years ago during the beast tide, Boris take over as guardian of this village.

"alright I understand. Why this.. martial artist need food supply from you? He can simply hunt something in the forest for food himself.

Suyi didn't say anything and keep quiet. Her face getting red and purple by Lucis question.

"it's okay if you don't want to answer me. Would you like to work for me?.. You don't have to scrape for food like this anymore, I'll pay you money too." Lucis feel like this girl is similar to Yina. Her life is really difficult and she's sacrificing herself for her family instead.

"wo.. work?" she almost can't believe what Lucis said to her. On her point of view, Lucis won't even put her in his eyes. After all, she's not even qualify to be a proper maiden with her short hair.

"ermm.. something like assistant. Being my assistant." Lucis smile and imagining about him being the president of his own company and Suyi is his personal assistant. He gave her a lot of work and he himself go take a nap.

"ass.. istan?"

"Erm.. " Lucia remember that there's nothing like assistant in this world

"I think something like secretary, sometimes like a maid." Lucis try to find the right word.

"maid? Like servant?" She have heard about maid. It's something nobles and royalty have. It's similar to servant in the big family.

"indeed." Lucis raised his thumb at her praising her intelligence. "are you willing?"

"if.. if.. Am I really worthy to be mister Lucis servant?" she still can't believe what Lucis just proposed to her. Servant for the immortal have higher status that the servant for the royalty. After all, royalty still only mortal.

"why not, don't you see my house? You're living in a better house than me. I'm not rich but I'll promise you that you and your brother won't be starving anymore."

"I'm willing, I'm willing." Suyi quickly nod worried that Lucis change his mind.

"you made a right decision. For now don't tell anyone about this first. If someone ask, just tell them that we're friend." Lucia nod with satisfaction. Now he have someone taking care of his house when he's not there.

he still feel disappointed with Elder Dun and the rest for abandoning his house and feels like they abandoned him at the same time after all what he did to help the village.

"wait here for a bit." as soon as Lucis said it, he disappeared without sound frightened Suyi.

"he truly are immortal... did I just work for immortal?" she pinched her cheek still doubting what just happened.

After almost an hour, Lucis appear in front of her again without sounds. She just can get used to how Lucis moving like a ghost.

"can you process big boar by yourself?" Lucis sizing Suyi body frame and convince that she's just not strong enough for this task.

"I can! I can do anything mister Lucis."

Lucis taken aback by Suyi shout. Feeling doubt. He wave his hand and a big boar appear in front of him. A dead boar.

"when I mean big, it's this big."

Suyi stunned looking at the pig almost 5 times bigger than her but this doesn't make her back down either.

She take out a short knife from her back and squat down trying to cut up the wild boar.

"hahaha enough, enough. I'm just teasing you." Lucis wave his hand and the big boat disappear. He wave again and a small deer drop down to the ground.

Suyi face turning red when she realized that Lucis is actually joking at her.

"this one. This should be a lot easier."

"I'll send this to your house later. Tomorrow help me clean up my house and prepare me some simple food."
