Unpack Her Life

Selena smiled it was genuine and it reached her eyes and they sparkled, "Thank you." Selena stood up and followed Oriana out of the kitchen. She had left her bags front door and as they passed it on the way up the stairs Selena picked them up and carried them still following Oriana.

She felt shy at the thought of imposing, though Oriana was warm and welcoming she still didn't understand why someone would take her in like this.

"Right, this will be your room from now on." Oriana stood at a door and held it open for Selena to see inside.

The room was bright and quite large, after living in the orphanage and then sharing an apartment in comparison this room was double her last apartment.

"This is too much," Selena said as she looked into the room.

"It is not too much, now come on in." Oriana then pulled Selena into the room.

The large bedroom was a sapphire colour, along with two big windows facing the garden it gave Selena a warm feeling. The bedroom also had some bookshelves again filled with a variety of books.

Selena clasped onto her bags she didn't want to set them down just yet. She was about to back out of the room when Oriana made a noise bedside her.

"Oh." Oriana lowered herself onto the comfortable grey chair that sat below the window. She saw that Selena was about to leave so she acted up on her aches and pains.

Seeing this Selena set down her bags and approached Oriana, "Are you okay?" She quickly asked.

Oriana smiled at her caring nature, her plan had worked, "Oh this old lady has general aches and pains of getting older."

Selena nodded, "You are not old Oriana." She comforted her, before asking, "I have healing hands I am told may I?"

Oriana was pleased with Selena and thought nothing of her 'healing hands' so she agreed, "Yes please anything to help with my pains."

Oriana did have aching bones but that was from years of standing and walking. She had also had a rough upbringing but after meeting her doting husband he hadn't let her lift a finger except to cook.

Selena rolled up her sleeves and walked around the grey chair, she placed her fingers lightly on Oriana's temple and closed her eyes and concentrated. She had done this only a few times but with the few, she had done this with it had helped them.

Oriana kept her eyes open, not expecting what was about to happen. She was an innutitive reader and had some magic. Her husband was a full witch whereas she had limited abilities so she had not noticed Selena's gift.

Oriana saw a red aura surround her body, she panicked at first but then realised that it was coming from Selena. Her aches reduced and then disappeared completely. Oriana was in shock.

Selena then opened her eyes and asked, "How are you feeling now?"

Oriana turned in her chair in shock and asked, "What are you?"

Selena was taken aback, "What do you mean what am I?"

Oriana quickly realised that Selena may not realise what she was doing. Magic was a lost form and there was all but one per cent of the world's population that could still do it now after the great wars.

Oriana decided to wait until her husband was home and see if he picked up on Selena's gift. She wasn't sure what she was. Her husband was a witch but he couldn't heal anyone and she had never heard of such magic. This had to be ancient magic.

"Oh, nothing. Nothing. I just meant that it is a miracle I feel like I'm twenty again. Though don't tell that husband of mine." Oriana joked.

Selena sighed in relief, "I'm so glad you feel better. If you need me to help again just let me know. I used to help my friend when he got headaches in the orphanage. I must actually contact him, now that I am allowed to."

"I will defiantly ask you again." She held onto Selena's hands, "So please stay." She pleaded. Oriana liked this young girl and wanted to help her.

It was rare to find someone so innocent and kind in a world full of people who had no time for others and only cared for themselves.

Selena glanced at Oriana, "I'll stay… but only until I get a job and find a place to live. I don't want to impose."

"Great. Now let's get you settled in." Oriana bounced out of the car and grabbed a bag of Selena's from the floor and started to unpack.

Selena saw how quickly Oriana was pulling open drawers and unpacking her life into those empty drawers. It gave her a sense of what having a family felt like, it warmed her heart.

She picked up the other bag from the floor and set it on the bed but Oriana grabbed it from her hands and helped her with it also.

It took her a lot of courage to pack her life into those bags and leave the situation she was in and now she felt at ease, that she had made the right decision for her future.

Oriana unpacked quickly so Selena wouldn't change her mind, once she was done she stood and beamed at Selena, "Now why don't you get some rest and I will see you downstairs in a little while."

"Thank you, Oriana. You have been so kind." Selena was very grateful to Oriana.

Oriana smiled at the young girl before embracing her in a big hug. She felt for her, she didn't know why but she felt like they were meant to meet.

Selena was taken aback by the hug, she rarely hugged people. She had no family to hug her when she needed one.

After the hug, Selena said, "Oh can I make you and your husband dinner. I would like to be useful while I am here."

Oriana wanted to spoil her but seeing that she may feel uncomfortable she agreed, "That would be wonderful."
