Meanwhile, Xavier lay idle on his office sofa, he kept his eyes closed as he focused. He sighed and reached down and petted Raziel's soft head.
Raziel appreciated the affection.
"Why hasn't she slept? Or have I lost the connection? Was she never real to begin with?" Xavier whispered. He was speaking out loud knowing that no one would answer.
*Bang*
The door was thrown open and Xavier didn't move, he knew it was Cass again. At the same time every day, he asked him to join him and his wife for dinner. Xavier never bothered. He didn't need the company nor want to watch Cass fawn over his wife.
"Xavier, come for dinner tonight." Cass entered the room and doubted that his friend had moved all day. He hated seeing Xavier like this as he had been the same over all the years he had known him.
Cass walked to the sofa, both Raziel and Xavier ignored him. He was used to it over the years and it had never bothered him and even though he knew it would be a no he asked his friend anyway. Maybe this would be the day that he would agree, Cass held out hope.
At getting no response he poked Xavier's boot.
Xavier sighed, "Stop asking." He was trying to concentrate, it had been over twenty-four hours and nothing. He was getting worried and aggravated.
"Come on you can't stay like this." Cass pointed around the empty office. His friend was brooding and he knew it, he would go through periods when he would leave the office and Cass felt it was his job to get his friend out.
Xavier wanted Cass to leave, he wanted to be alone just in case she fell asleep.
Cass kneeled down and petted Raziel's head, trying to persuade his friend once more, "Come on, and come with me. Once you and Raziel eat you can both go home."
Hearing no response Cass stood up and walked to the door, he turned and spoke just as he closed the door, "See you in the morning, get some rest."
Once it was quiet again Xavier tried to focus but nothing happened. He controlled his anger as it built. Why was he suddenly obsessed with some girl he thought, was it because the girl from his dreams resembled her?
Meanwhile, Selena had taken a shower and she had changed into fresh clothing. She had on a pair of black leggings and a maroon sweatshirt. She glanced at the bookshelves and picked up a book from it at random.
She opened the front cover and read the first line, she sat at the window ledge just inches away from the window. She savoured the afternoon low sun and the gentle breeze against her skin.
The book seemed interesting, a tale of two lost lovers. It was the kind of book she could get lost in while savouring a hot cup of tea.
She read for a while and as she started to feel tired she stood up and placed the book on the nightstand. She couldn't nap in someone else's home, she had promised Oriana dinner.
So although she was tired she stretched and made her way down the stairs where Oriana sat in the living room.
"Do you have any requests for dinner?" Selena asked.
"No no. Anything will do us. I just messaged my husband and he will be home soon." Oriana didn't explain to her husband anything she wanted to see if he would pick up on anything himself when it came to Selena's talents.
Selena walked towards the kitchen, but she stopped and turned to enquire, "And you're sure he won't mind the fact that a stranger is living in his home?"
Oriana giggled, "Of course not. He is very like myself and would want you to stay as long as you like."
"Thank you but I will only stay until I get a job secured," Selena announced before she walked into the kitchen.
Her husband could offer Selena a job, but if he did that then Selena would leave. She didn't want to hold her back but she also wanted her to stay a bit longer. She wanted to find out what powers the young girl and if she had any more hidden.
*Creak*
The front door opened and Oriana saw her husband, he quickly closed the door and dove towards her. "Wifee love me."
He rushed towards her with his arms open wide. Oriana was used to his childish nature and so she turned and followed Selena into the kitchen.
"Wifee!" Cass huffed and took off his coat and followed after his wife. He had been ignored by his friend all day and worked long hours only for his wife to ignore him at home too.
He scratched the back of his neck as he approached the kitchen, "Mmm smells tasty!" He added.
Cass then noticed his wife standing beside a beautiful young girl. She had her back to him but as she turned he gasped.
The gasp was so loud the two women looked up at him.
Selena thought that Oriana's husband may not like her staying so she felt awkward.
"What are you gasping at? Stop making a fuss and welcome our guest. This is Selena and she will be staying with us." Oriana explained she thought that her husband had seen her magical aura.
Cass was at a loss for words she was the double of the girl that Xavier had not only described to him but also she had shared the same ancient magic that he had talked about. He now knew why none of the other girls he had pictured were not her.
The girl that stood in front of him was unique, she was enchanting and her magic was on the same level as Xavier's if not more powerful than his.
As he stood there with his mouth open his wife came around the kitchen counter and slapped his arm waking him from his thoughts.
