Cass gulped and took his phone out from his pocket, he was about to dial when he remembered that he had promised Xavier that he wouldn't bother him anymore. But this was different from the countless other times. The girl in front of him held an ancient magic inside of her that he couldn't explain. This had to be her.
Even though he was almost one hundred per cent sure he placed his phone back in his pocket and smiled at the young girl, "Welcome, welcome. Please make yourself at home. I'm Cassian, you can call me Cass for short, everybody does."
Selena smiled at Cass. He seemed just as lovely and friendly as his wife. She was glad he didn't seem to mind her unexpected arrival into his home. "Thank you. I hope you like lasagne."
One thing Selena was sure of was her cooking skills. She was glad to welcome Cass with a warm meal and hoped that they could get along with one another as she had with Oriana.
Oriana rolled her eyes at her clueless husband, she could see that her husband was excited and had started babbling, "Dinners ready let's go sit at the table."
Cass nodded and helped by bringing the lasagne to the table. His mind raced with infinite possibilities. Was she Xaviers lost love he thought? He had hope for his friend that she was. He just didnt know how to get them together.
Once they had all sat down together and had started to eat, Cass glanced at his wife. He had so many questions and he wondered if she knew the answers or if he should ask Selena himself.
Oriana sensed her husband's eagerness and so she helped him, "Selena was very good and helped me earlier with the aches and pains that I get. They are gone now and I feel great, she is a real healer."
Selena blushed, "It's nothing really." Selena brushed off the idea.
Cass beamed, his face lit up, "A healer." He almost jumped out of his seat when he heard that Xavier had said his love was an angelic healer.
Selena was shy but she added, "I wouldn't say that but I have helped a few people over the years with headaches and things like that."
"I wish I had a migraine," Cass announced. He wanted to feel and see the extent of her powers.
Oriana laughed at her childish husband, "Well if you keep it up you will give me one."
"Sorry, my love." Cass glanced at his wife and apologised.
Selena giggled, the two had a relationship that she had not seen nor experienced before except in movies and on television.
Her laugh was light and her cheeks were rosy, the couple glanced at her.
She was the light that Xavier had conveyed to them.
After dinner had been eaten and the kitchen was cleared and tidied away Selena joined the couple in the living room. She had forgotten something very important to her when she had left the apartment in a rush that morning.
She didn't notice it missing at first because she had thought that it was in her jewellery box.
"Emm, I am going to have to head out soon," Selena announced.
Cass and Oriana turned their heads as they sat on the sofa together. They couldn't tell her not to go out as she was an adult but they didn't think it was safe for her to go wandering around late at night.
"Where are you off to dear? My husband can take you in the car if you like?" Oriana quickly offered.
"Yes, yes I can take you in the car. Where are we going?" Cass stood and glanced around looking for his keys.
Selena shook her head, "No, no it's okay I would like to get some air."
Cass looked to his wife for guidance.
Oriana nodded, "Today has been a lot for you. Just take care and we will wait up for you."
"Oh no, no there is no need." Selena refused outright, she didn't want them to worry nor wait up for her to get back.
Oriana nodded, "Be safe then."
Cass sat back down again beside his wife, he was keen to ask Selena more questions about her gifts and her life but he had held back as to not bombard her.
"Goodnight," Selena said as she walked out of the living room and towards the front door. She put on her coat and wrapped it around her slim body.
She walked out into the night and the calm dark sky gave her some comfort. She didn't want to go back to the apartment that she had lived in and shared with her ex but she wanted her ring. It was on a chain around her neck when she had arrived at the orphanage.
Now she wore it on her finger, she only took it off when she had a shower and last night she had showered and placed it in her jewellery box, or so she thought.
She looked up at the stars and crescent moon as she walked down the street towards the bus stop. She waited and luckily a bus soon arrived. She took the bus to the city centre and got off and walked the twenty minute journey to her old apartment.
The old familiar steps made her heart race with trepidation, so she looked up to the stars again she felt calm after doing so.
As she did she repeated to herself again and again 'I am not a burden, not undeserving, not broken, I am not a mess to be cleaned up, I am enough.'
