Chapter 1 3/3

Joseph held firmly unto her wrist till they got to the front of the class.

"let go!"....Rose kept yelling, still surprised at Joseph's sudden strength and guts.

she struggled to get lose from his grip but failed. He was too strong for her.

with her other hand free, she grabbed unto Joseph's skin with her nails and pinched him.

"ow!"..... he screamed in pain.

"Should have done that ages ago".....she said under her breath.

" what was that all about, Joseph"...

"What do you mean 'What was that all about?' ".....he answered aggressively.

"why did you do that back there?"...

she raised her voice at him.

" let me rephrase it for you, you mean thank you".....

"Thank you for what!!"....

"for saving your future!".....he yelled back at her.

" saving my future from what huh?...

"From Mark Jameson!"....

"why!!".....

"Because.....Because...Because..... you know what nevermind".....

he gave up on her, about to walk away. Rose grabbed his arm, she needed answers.

"You know how much I've liked Mark and the one day he notices me, you jump in and scare him off and you don't even have a reason for doing it, some friend you are".....

she walked out him in utter disappointment, unaware that her shoulders bumped into his.

Rose got home. Her sad expression hadn't changed since her fight with Joseph.

She walked through the front door hoping to find some comfort in Lilian's presence but things didn't quite turn out how she thought it would.

The first thing she saw once she walked in was Lilian standing in front of her, a furious look on her face.

"Did you ditch class again Rose?"....

she only called her by her real name when she was really upset with her.

"mum, please let me explain"...

Rose begged.

"No!, I'm really disappointed in you Rose ".....

"i know the principal called you but mum please hear me out___"..

"what do you mean principal, no such person called me".....

"th, th, then how did you___"...

"You're on TV, really?"....Lilian scolded her.

"what do you mean?".....

Lilian sighed and reached into her back pocket. she pulled out her phone and played a video for Rose. It was Rose in the youghurt shop, in the middle of the fight with the robbers.

"mum i____".....

"you used your powers in public!"...

she raised her voice.

"but I fought them like a real human "...she tried to convince her.

"the man you pinched at the end of the video collapsed and his veins turned black"..... Lilian explained.

Rose stood speechless. a rush of guilt and defeat ran through her bloodstreams. she could feel Lilian's disappointment.

"wasn't that viper lily venom, you pierced into him?"...

" yes mum".....

"you could have killed him"....

" I only injected a little".....Rose defended herself.

"it doesnt matter. if he gets checked out by the doctors they'll find out that a poisonous venom not yet known to man was put into his body somehow ".....

"Mum am really sorry, I just wanted to save all those people "....Rose finally surrendered.

Lilian sighed.

"come here"....she opened her arms wide to Rose who rushed in and gave her a big hug.

"I'm sorry Lilian"....

"its okay princess"...

She pulled her slowly from herself and held unto her shoulders.

"Princess, I may not be your mother but I can't let you get hurt, okay?"....

"i know "....

"Go upstairs and change and tell me all about your day at school when you come down okay?"....

"sure"....

"I love you"....

"l love you too".....

Rose left Lilian who seemed to be worried about her.

"i hope she's okay"....she said under her breath.

The next few days for Rose and Joseph were heated. They hadn't spoken to each other and not one of them budged with regret. Especially Roselina.

They sat at thier usual desk. Class was ongoing. Rose hadn't had any ideas of ditching school especially without her bestfriend. The idea of actually paying attention in class frustrated her. she often glanced at Joseph who seemed laser focused and in no mood for her.

The teacher went on and on about rusted metals and thier inability to conduct electricity.

the class was interrupted by Rose's moan out of Boredom.

"miss Rose are you okay?"...the teacher asked.

she immediately gathered herself together at the sight of everyone's eyes on her.

"I'm fine , ma'am "...she replied in a low tone.

"i see you're bored. why don't you go to the roof and get us some rusted metals so we can have a physical representation of the topic. a little walk will help you".....the teacher continued.

"yes miss".....Rose sighed. she rose to her feet and walked out the class. she didn't bother to run from school. she went straight to the roof.

a bored sigh came out of her as she opened the door to the roof.

"Mark why are you doing this to me?".... she heard a female voice.

Rose paused. she stood behind the open door that they seemed to not have noticed.

" what do you mean Brenda?"....

A male voice replied.

The voice sounded familiar to Rose. it was Mark.

"I'm your girlfriend and you didn't tell me you were dating three other juniors"...

"look Brenda, I don't love them like I love you. you know I'm just using them right?"....

silence was in the air for a while.

Rose stood speechless.

"well fine....I believe you. but what about that red haired junior you keep looking at?".....

"what?, you mean Rose?"...

he started laughing.

"yes if that's her name".....the voice sounded unhappy"....

"Do you really believe i would like her?, have you seen her, she isn't even that pretty"....he chuckled continously.

Rose's eyes teared up. she couldn't believe what she had just heard. Joseph was right all along. he was only trying to save his bestfriend from a major heartbreak.

she clenched her fist in anger, trying hard to hold back her tears.

"well then, tell me I'm prettier than her".....the female voice seemed happier.

"a thousand times".....

Rose couldn't take it anymore. she stormed out, leaving the two alone to themselves.
