Useless Policies

"Useless, useless and this is even more useless." Allen said.

He was looking at a book that described, using a flow sequence, the various processes in which the previous leaders had ruled, the decisions they made, their reputation, their policies with other areas outside of this one.

Allen was pretty sure most of these were not beneficial to anyone. They spent money frivolously, and that there were not even proper accounts of where the money was spent. There were supposed to be people that had a lot of experience that would have the work of giving consultation to the leader, but judging from the overall trajectory, he realized why the leaders and their so-called wise advisers would often go into the wild to gain experience. They basically had no interest in doing this as far as he could tell. No one wanted a position like this, It forced Allen to conclude.

Not that Allen and others were special, maybe they were, but not so much that they were nominated so promptly it was that others did not know how to do it, neither they had any interest to do so.

Allen would sometimes get angry, sometimes he would get shocked, and sometimes just think that a joke was being played with him. Definitely.

The leaders had repeatedly only focused on one thing or two things in their times. Some expanded their buildings and construction widely, with their entire career including just that. After that, they looked so satisfied in the graphical picture too.

Allen wanted to yell out at them that" I swear that you have done more damage to other things than you did anything good by doing this"

Some programs had too narrow scope and could most often not be applied extensively. Allen related this to a story, seeing this joke of leadership. It was like a state using half of its income on a forest camouflaged uniform, while it was mostly a desert, with 98% of it being without forests. That was crazy damage now.

Allen got the picture that these leaders loved making reform, but may target only a special group. There was no thought about what were the consequences going to be for other sectors that they had to manage, hence the gigantic amount of debt that the system had not told him yet. He feared even mentioning that now. He was grateful that it didn't mention it, otherwise, he would already have logged out of a game before. This was too much. He wasn't well versed in making such decisions, and the situation was too worse for an amateur to handle.

The thing was, Allen could not find much evidence of corruption being present. At least the leaders seemed free from such accusations. There were plenty of other accusations and even books on how someone was doing one or more things wrong, but there were little to no cases of corruption.

Still, the situation was this bad. He didn't understand why. Shouldn't corruption-free land be a prosperous place, instead of one where you need to escape from?

Allen left that matter alone for now. He might take the situation to Sam, he would be more versed in this thing than him, who was supposed to be a well-educated gamer.

Allen put the last book down and then asked the system.

Allen said, "Is it possible to contact the previous leaders?"

The system said "Kindly wait. Attempting to connect….asking for availability…..one has said not available…..2 have said not available…..3…..all have said not available. Sorry, you can't"

Allen was desperate. He said, "At least can I talk to the one who was supposed to be my trainer? This also comes into training right. It is an emergency."

The system heard him say emergency, and it said "User has said the situation is an emergency…contacting the tutor assigned to user….tutor has refused…..tutor's refusal not accepted, the tutor is being forcefully made to meet with the user. Kindly don't spend too much time. "

After that, the system messages disappeared from in front of him and his tutor appeared again. The man looked like he had been sleeping, as he was still in a drowsy state, still a little confused and maybe worried.

The room was tiny. It only had enough space for four people to sleep, so the man who was the energy master and Allen were practically standing face to face.

Seeing Allen worried but silent, the energy master was very anxious. He now had to talk to a new leader. The previous leaders did not face this kind of torture before him, he was thinking.

He couldn't even meet them properly after they had gone into the wild, to escape the mess they would leave behind after implementing their policies forcefully. Why was he being made to take account, this was not fair?

He had met some leaders virtually before, in long-distance communication, like how he had fought a previous leader in front of Allen before, but….they had just put the flaming baton in his hand, and he had thought he would pass it on the next successor, his next-generation….but-but this…

He grabbed his head and scratched it vigorously. He thought, 'This is not working out. How did he contact me so soon?'

Allen was still thinking about a lot of things and making points to discuss with this former leader.,

Making complaints could come later. Right now, he just wanted to know what they were messing up and what lesson had he learned. At least, he should not make those mistakes. He would take that as a foundation to go forward for now. He didn't know what else to do, where else to seek knowledge.

But seeing Allen silent after the initial greeting of peace, the energy killer was ever so anxious. At last, he finally caved under pressure. He could bear the eyes of Allen no more, although he could be happy after seeing the eyes of level 40 creatures.

He said, "I don't know how you called me here. But, what did you want to discuss with me? I don't think…actually I can't help you. It is not about the time….I am in fact not an appropriate person to lead."

Allen was still making the points in his mind when he listened to this ridiculous explanation. His emotions were running rampant again. He tried to make himself calm, remembering some stuff. Allen said, "You should have thought of that before you became a leader, Mr. former leader. That is too late of a realization, having done your share of damage."

The energy killer felt humiliated and his ego suffered an attack. As a proud human being, he could not take this lying down. He craved to counter, and he could think of many ideas, but he became melancholy. It was indeed him who was in the wrong and still did not want to rectify his mistakes.

Energy killer asked the system for a chair and then sat in that, a little fatigued. He said "Yes, it is my error too. So, what do you want from me specifically? You only wished to ask? I am at your use. Inquire what you want."

Actually, Allen wanted to instigate him deliberately. He struggled to use the soft language before when he worked out with him as his tutor, so that experience had made him think that this approach may be better. It worked, so it was fine.

Allen didn't ask the system for a chair. He said, "I am quite confused. From what I read from the library books about the legacy of…previous leaders. There was not even one about whom was said with proof that he was a corrupt leader. Why then…the situation seems so bad?"

The energy master wanted to answer the question, but he then stopped.

Allen was thinking maybe he was still not sure of co-operation fully.

Seeing Allen silent, that was what the energy killer thought Allen was thinking. But he was silent for an entirely different reason.

He said "So you only know the situation from the books. And only the books the system recommended to you?"

Allen said "Yes. Is that any problem? I did not even stay for a day yet. So that was a good place to start."

The leader said "Maybe. Actually, no. That is a problem in of itself"
