We parted before we met

"Take me to a world of sliver

No more heartbreaks, tears, painkillers

Take me somewhere unfamiliar

Bring me back to where we started out

Get me out of now

To where we started out"

Lisa listened to this song, with their eyes closed and tears left from one corner of her eyes. She was at the airport, waiting for the flight with her mother. She was going to another country for her better career and to move on from her unrequited love.

Louis was not aware of all that because it happened overnight. Neither he nor she tried to contact each other which made the situation worse than before. After some time, they got on the plane and she went far away from her childhood best friend even without addressing him.

The next morning, he got up with a headache and checked his phone in case he got any text from Lisa with his half-closed eyes. But he became sad when he saw no message from her. He got ready, had breakfast and made his way towards Lisa's home. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to greet him but no one came. So, he thought of knocking again expecting someone to open the door. But still, no one came to welcome him. As he turned his gaze and saw a notice on the door of their house.

"HOUSE FOR RENT"

It took him by surprise because neither of them informed him about leaving that house. He called Lisa but her phone was coming unavailable then. So, he thought of calling her mother and met his failure again. He got worried for both of them because he thought that might be her stepmother who did something bad to them. He didn't want to think like that but the situation was something that made him think that way. Out of frustration, he ran his hand through his hair locks and tears of losing someone left his eyes. He took steps to go back to his way but stopped when someone called him.

"Excuse me, Sir, Can I know your name?" the guard of that house asked.

"Louis," he said.

"Oh! Sir, there is a letter for you from Lisa," he handed him the letter and went away from there. It was out of his imagination. He wiped the tears away from his face and tried to open the letter.

"My Childhood Ghost,

I know how we met and I'll always remember that meeting. We met in a shopping mall and you tried to make me sacre by wearing a ghost outfit. That's when I gave you that name. I always adored you for your presence in my life. We had a lot of funny memories with each other. I thanked God for sending you into my life as my best friend but I don't know how you became an important part of my life. I thought that I lost my parents but I have you by my side and that's more than enough for me. I never asked for much but your presence in my life. I couldn't bear the pain of losing you. But I guess now I did because I fell in love with you, I don't know how it happened but it just happened with me. I didn't know about your feelings for me so, I never dare to confess my feelings to you. I don't know when I would be able to but don't worry about me I know I'm going far from here for my career and I hope you also come up with the best in your career. I loved you so much as a best friend and even more but never got a chance to confess before so, here are my feelings for you on paper. I wanted to celebrate your birthday with you. but I hope you enjoy it with your mother."

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY GHOST"

Your Lisa.

He couldn't believe those words in that letter. He looked at the sky to stop the tears from falling. He sighed and looked at the letter with tearful eyes. He caressed those words with love "My Childhood Ghost", some tears fell on those words which made him cry even harder.

He regretted his actions for making that scene in their farewell party. But in search of a lover, he lost his childhood best friend for life. He didn't know what to do because by then he already lost his best friend. He couldn't think of any way to get out of that feeling. Soon it started raining, and he remembered that how much Lisa used to love rain. One day in past, they both also did some funny dance together in the rain, which was also there in their memories. He cried and fell on his knees, he didn't cry because he lost his love but his childhood best friend. He stayed there until the rain stopped.

After that, he went to the riverside and revised the moments, they spent together there just a few months before. He sat there and thought about nothing but missed her presence around him. He wasn't able to do anything to get her back in his life as a best friend, but that made him sad.

Soon, it started getting dark but he didn't realise that. A call interrupted him from thinking, he flinched and hurriedly took his phone out of his pocket in hope that might be he got a call from Lisa.

But when he saw his mother's ID on the phone screen, he became sad for no reason.

He picked up the call.

"Hey mom," he greeted her.

"Come home, there's something for you," her mother said in excitement.

"I don't want to celebrate my birthday today," he whimpered.

Her mother pleased him to come and wanted him to celebrate his birthday. At first, he didn't want to go back home but when her mother said that someone has sent you a ghost outfit as your birthday gift. He was surprised to know that so, without any second thought he made his way back home. He thought that might be Lisa was there to celebrate his birthday but it wasn't like that.
