THE Dungeon Break

Mark took the goblin warrior marble in and put a new bunch of goblin marbles into the black box before going to sleep.

Early in the morning, he woke up and immediately checked the black box once more. As expected only a single marble was inside there.

He took the marble out and put it towards the light source to see what it was. It was a Goblin Warrior. He was a little disappointed that it wasn't a Goblin Wizard, as they sold for a lot more than a warrior.

But he was also glad that it wasn't Goblin archer, as they sold for quite less. All in all, he couldn't complain.

"Besides, it's not like I am going to sell it or anything. I will need them to evolve my own monster marbles," he thought.

He swiftly put 10 more goblin marbles in there and closed the lid. He didn't even care about the spilling green light before he put it back into the drawer.

He so wished to take it to the dungeon with him, however, the black box could never be put inside a storage ring.

He had known about this fact ever since he had to pack up his stuff at their last home and move to city C. After the incident at City D, they could no longer stay there and had to move.

During that time, he had tried a bunch of times to put the black box into the storage rings, but he was never successful with it.

He had even tried a bunch of different storage rings he had at the time, but it worked with none of it. This was also one of the reasons he hadn't thrown it away by now.

Something that was with his sister when they found her unconscious, and something that could not be put inside a storage ring. It held too much of an importance to throw away just like that.

In the end, he had kept it with him and now it was benefiting him.

He quickly freshened himself and went to prepare food for him and his sister. After everything was ready, he left the house and walked to the goblin dungeon once more.

He didn't even wait as a porter for 5 minutes when he was randomly picked by a group of 4. Mark went along with them and took out the giant bag before walking in.

Inside the dungeon, the 4 people took out their monster marbles and summoned the monster inside of it.

Mark saw the monsters and said nothing. The monsters weren't very good for the dungeon. But they weren't very bad either.

They were just the middle of the pack and required no comments on their viability in this dungeon from him.

He too delayed no further and took out his monster marble and summoned the goblin warrior from it. When the goblin warrior did come out, however, Mark was a little shocked.

Anyone who saw it for the first time would make comment on its appearance, but nothing else. It looked exactly like what a goblin warrior should look.

However, to Mark who was using the goblin warrior, he could tell that the monster was just a little bit buffer than before.

'How is that even possible?' he wondered. The goblin warrior that came out of the black box was already buffer and stronger than most monsters found in the dungeon.

And yet, the goblin warrior had clearly gotten much stronger than before.

"Did it actually work somewhat?" Mark asked himself in a low voice.

"Hey! Brother porter. That's a nice goblin warrior you've got there. Why are you working as a porter still, why not fight?" one of the men asked him after seeing the buff g0blin warrior appear.

"Oh, I still haven't graduated from Hunter's academy. Once I do that, I will go fight in a dungeon," Mark said.

"Ah, well that's a shame. It's such a good monster and we won't get to use it," he said.

"It must be hard on the newbies, right? Having to train so hard and have a high chance of failing. Look at us, we were like one of the worst ones in our batch at Hunter's academy and we've been fighting like this for a while now," Another person said.

"Yeah, it's all because of the dungeon break 2 years ago. If not for that these newbies wouldn't have to suffer so many restrictions. Haha, life would've been quite different for these guys if that dungeon break didn't occur," the first person said.

"Hey, don't make light of such a tragic event. So many people died. We would've probably died too if it wasn't for the Hero fighting the monsters until he was himself dead. He sacrificed himself so we can live. We need to honor his sacrifice, he was a martyr." The other person said.

Mark fell into his thoughts. He was reminded back to the day. The numerous monsters. The fire and smoke. The screams. The chaos. The destruction. The deaths.

And in that death and destruction, his sister, with a bleeding forehead, laid on the ground. She had spoken to him at that time, the last time she was sane. She had reached his ears to say something.

But he could not remember.

He couldn't tell if the noise was too much for him to listen to what she had said at that time, or he was just in too much of a shock to listen to anything.

Either way, it didn't change the fact that he had forgotten what she had said, and she had fainted right after. Only when she was taken to the hospital after all the death and destruction did he find that the black box was in her possession.

What was it? Why did his sister have it? Who gave it to her? Numerous questions flew across Mark.

"Hey porter boy," the man spoke. "You coming or not?"

Mark realized that he had been lost in his thought for quite a while and said, "Yes! Yes! I'm coming."
