Mark quickly opened his status page to check how much he had grown in terms of level.

"Oh damn, 38%? That's a lot more than I was expecting. Did my experience not get shared?" he wondered. He remembered back to the fight where most of the monsters he killed were dead before they even killed anything.
"So, even though they targeted the other monsters, they don't get the experience because the other monsters were never actually attacked, and thus were never part of the fight," he thought.
"That's useful to know," Mark thought.
"Still, 38% is quite a lot. That's quite surpr— hmm," something else caught his eyes.
"Goblin Warrior… 10%? Experience? Do monsters get experience? I never knew that," he thought in confusion. "Do they?" he was sure there was nothing about monsters getting experience in anything he read.
He quickly went on the internet to check if he had missed something by chance. But no matter what forum, video, or Hunter association report he read, there was nothing about monsters getting experience.
"Did my monster get to experience last time I got experience?" he tried to think back but realized the only other time he had gotten experience was when his goblin monster had died. That route was useless to think about.
'Damn, this is confusing,' he thought. "What else has the goblin warrior done aside from carrying the loot then?" he tried to think.
Suddenly, he remembered last night. "The black box?" he asked himself. He remembered using the black box with his goblin warrior and it had done nothing to it, so he thought it was a waste.
"But if the black box actually gives experience then… should I try it?" he thought.
He quickly took out the black box from his drawer and pulled out the goblin marble from the center of the marble holding dents in them.
"Tsk. A damn goblin archer," he said in disappointment. Goblin archers were the worst of the three, so hating on them was very usual. Although, nothing was more hated than a damn, useless goblin.
Mark quickly took out his equipped marble, the goblin warrior, and put it inside the black box. He filled the rest of the spots with regular goblins that he had still laying around in his ring.
As soon as he closed the lid, green light started spilling out from the black box. Mark waited for 5 minutes for it to be done like yesterday, but it instead took about 10 minutes.
"Damn, why is it taking so long?" he thought.
Finally, he took out the goblin warrior after it was done and took it inside his body. He then checked his status once more.

"It is," he said in shock. Just as he had expected, it was the black box that was giving it experience.
"Why though? Is it merging with the other goblins? Are the other goblins being killed to feed it experience? Why can't the other regular monsters become stronger from fighting with the monsters in the dungeon?" multiple questions ran in his mind.
There were plenty of goblin warriors that fought hundreds if not thousands of other goblins in the F-ranked goblin dungeon, and yet there was not a single news of said goblin warrior changing into a hobgoblin or something.
"Is this something special that only the black box can do?" he thought. And as he thought that, another thought came into his mind, "does that mean… only I, out of all the people in the world, am capable of changing my monsters to a higher tier? Of Evolving them?"
He couldn't contain his excitement and quickly took out another set of 9 goblin marbles and put it in the black box along with his goblin warrior marble.
He waited 10 minutes for the thing to be done but it took longer this time. It took him about 15 minutes.
"Damn, why is it taking so long?" he couldn't help but get angry. It felt like he had just got his life on the fast lane, and yet the automobile in front of him was starting to slow down instead.
Only after 15 minutes, did he finally get to take back the goblin warrior once more. He took it back to check once more and it was in fact 30% now.
It was starting to get late, so he put in another set of goblin marbles and left the room to go prepare dinner.
He ate dinner with his sister and put her to bed. Afterward, he returned back to the room. He was a bit tired from fighting during the day, but his enthusiasm for getting stronger kept him awake.
He took out the goblin warrior from the black box and looked at it once more. It was 40% now. He was giddy with happiness.
He only had to do it 6 more times and he could possibly have a hobgoblin. "Damn, what could I not do with a hobgoblin? Maybe I should actually sell it— no, it's my monster marble. Sh*t, I can't sell that. I will have to use another set of goblin marbles," he thought.
He put another 9 goblin marbles into the black box along with his 40% goblin warrior. He then went on to the internet to buy another set of goblin marbles.
He soon put an order for 200 goblin marbles, which he bought for around 110 units. It was a day's worth of money, but to him, it was worth it.
Before he even knew it, the black box was done. "It took 25 minutes this time," he thought. He checked the goblin warrior once more. As expected, it was 50%.
He put another set of 9 goblin marble in as well as the goblin warrior. He waited for a while, but soon, he felt his eyelids getting heavy.
Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep for the night.
