Chapter 24 Waking Up

Chapter 24 Waking Up

I laid there for what seemed like months to me, but days for the voice I kept hearing. He seemed worried about me as I could figure out who it was. The pain was better, but still there if I could move a little. I wanted to wake up from this dream, but still waited for the sign of my body was ready. This was different as my body called out to me as I felt my arm a little and my eyes opened a little. The light was bright, but I knew that it wasn't the blood cult's or the Wally World's base. This place was different, it felt safe and home-like in a way.

It took time for my eyes to get used to my area, but it made me feel better as I saw it was a bedroom. Medical supplies were laid on a table as I had an IV in my arm keeping me fed and hydrated. But the voice from before wasn't in the room as I woke. I tied to move up, but I groaned as I fall right back into the bed. Guessing it was going to take a while for me to get back up. I looked down at my belly, seeing that the bump was still there as it has grown a little since I passed out. The sounds of talking and screaming of other patients from different rooms made me shiver. I was not dead or at least I think I wasn't now.

"I'm not going to let her die!" that voice screamed out again.

"It's been a month and we need to save other lives," a female tried to reason with them.

"Give her more time," they pleaded, but it ended with them saying no and headed for my room. I knew what they were planning to do and sat there waiting for them to come in. My body hurt like hell, and I felt like I needed something to drink. I wonder if that little girl and Jones were okay. I waited as the woman came into my room as she didn't see that I was awake. She started to remove the IV as I watch. She finally looked down and saw that my eyes were now open.

She froze in her place as the IV dropped to the floor. I tried to get up, but she forced me back down into the bed. To her, I should have been dead, but there I was alive and well. A smile came across my face as she ran out of the room to get a doctor of some sort. I waited as someone else came into the room. A man with a white coat and a kind smile that I saw before.

"Good to see that you still with us," he smiled

"Yeah…" I said, "I feel like hell."

"You'll be in pain for a while," he replied, "and it seems that everything is still at one peace."

"What about the baby?" I questioned.

"She healthy," he replied as he asked other questions about my health. Asking if I felt anything wrong inside and if I wanted something to eat.

"Where's Jones?" I asked

"The boy who wouldn't leave your side?" he asked.

"Yes," I replied.

"He left after," he stuttered, "after we have to tell him we have to let you go."

He was the voice calling for me to wake up and not give in. But it seemed that he was giving up and I remember how he told me he would sometimes go out when upset. My heart stopped as I forced myself to get up, pain and all. I looked at the doctor and asked for a pair of clothes. It didn't take for me to be dressed and out the door. The place was connected to a Hospital near Willow, but the place was different. Buildings were built and a wall made of wood stood strong.

I had no clue where Jones would have gone too or even if he was okay. The idea of him being hurt in any way made my heart sink as I looked. There were many places a man could go or even see, but that fear inside screamed for me to look faster. Jones had moments of being cocky, but he was sweet and kind toward me. We both changed as people as we grew closer to one another. But at the edge of the fort were the sounds of crying, not the ones of joy, but the ones of pure sadness.

The closer I got the more it came into range as I saw Jones there looking at the sky. He must have changed, or it was something he held in his past. I have never seen him pray to God to save me before, but he was crying to him at the top of his lungs. I walked closer to see if he would let me be closer to him. I wrapped my arms around him as he froze but soon ended with me on the ground. The tearful glare was there but soften as he pulled me back up into his arms.

"Jones…" I said softly.

"Is it really you?" he questioned as his arms got tighter around me.

"Yes," I said as I wrapped my arms around him as well, "nothing can keep me away from you."

"I know," he sniffed, "but I thought that you were gone."

"It's okay." I answered, "I'm not planning on leaving so soon."

"I'll make sure of it," he replied as he finally pulled away from the hug. His green eyes spoke many words but seemed to finally have a smile once again. "Why didn't you tell me that you were pregnant?"

"I was scared that you would be upset," I stuttered a little bit, "or want me to leave."

"Why in the Hell would I do that!" he said in a shocked tone, "I knew that something was off as you ate more and became less affectionate with me. But you were protecting what would be our child."

"You probably wouldn't let me leave the house," I answer as I looked to the ground with tears falling down my cheeks.

"Your right on that," he answered, "but I'm not mad at you."

"You're not?" I questioned.

"Nope," he replied, "I do want to know next time. As I am the luckiest man in the world to have a girlfriend like you in my life."

"Really?" I sniffed a little.

"Yep," he smiled, "plus we get to be parents."
