Chapter 25 Heading Home

We stayed at the Mountain View camp for a while, till we know that it was safe for me to travel. Jones at the time get more protective after learning that I was going to have a baby. I was barely able to leave his side as he wanted to make sure that we were both safe. I still carried my gun and knife even if he didn't like them. I was still shocked to see that our car was still in one piece after the fight but made me happy to know that we had a way back home.

The trip was a short one, but Jones made it feel like it was an hour. Our house looked like someone had come in looking for clues of some sort. I thought about Jade and the group as they didn't know that we left in the first place. She might have checked over and over hoping to find some sort of clue to where we were at. So, when we went inside it didn't surprise me to see someone from the group.

Ace looked tired and the same with James as they looked through stuff over and over. It seemed that they didn't hear us pull up and walked inside our home. I was lucky that they didn't take any of the food out of the house, but it was a mess. They moved furniture, and clothes on the floor and the same with documents and plans from before. I breathed in as I was about to speak.

"You really know how to make me feel welcomed," I said with a frown. This made them jump as they looked over to see me still alive.

"Lize?" Ace asked as I got up from the ground.

"The one and only," I sighed as I went over to help him up.

"We thought you left for good after…" James spoke, "you knocked out Jade."

"Better than being locked up there," I replied as they tried to hug me, but Jones wouldn't have it. He pulled me to his side, trying to make sure that I wasn't getting hurt. I knew that this side of him was going to get annoying at some point. "I got hurt while I was gone."

They seemed to understand why he was acting that way, but I still went up to get hugs from each of the boys. I wanted to go back and see what had changed, but it was for the best for me to leave. Jones wanted to go out and see if there were any houses or bases towards Springfield, but that seemed to be risky. I wanted to make sure that we were ready for a long trip like that, and it wasn't going to be a good one. But the thought of my nephews came to mind as they lived down there. Were they still alive or did they change into zombies?

"Jade wanted you to hear something at the base," Ace started to speak, "It sounds like something you would want to hear. When we got here and saw that you two were gone. She flew into a rage and looked to see if there was anything about where you guys went."

"She owes us a clean-up of our house," I replied as I sat down, "but right now I'll think about heading over."

"We'll tell her, "they said as they were about to leave. Knowing that we would want to clean up our home as they left. Jones would force me to sit down. I was fine as we would start cleaning as he would smile while doing so. It didn't last long as I got up to clean our room as his back was turned to me. The room was a mess as I placed the bed back and cleaned the floor of clothes and items that was broken. Hours passed as the house was finally back in order and Jones glared at me for cleaning. It was going to be a long fight with him till I can do things on my own.
