Chapter 10

Chapter 10: Awkward and Cold

The lunch break has over, Meri took me to the bathroom, but before that, she stopped by for a while to get to the student section. Took a new tracksuit for me, because she insisted that it had been a long time since I replace it with a new one.

So, along the hallway, which was filled with second-year high school students and endless nagging from her. She also gave me the latest and hottest gossips during my coma, using not to be outdated as a motive. The bathroom was quite full, we had to wait a while to get changed inside.

I changed clothes first because Meri still had to straighten her hair, then she went inside, until a woman with two tails trailing her behind came out of one of the booths, so they were crammed inside? How? They walked to the sink, where I was waiting for her who was in the bathroom. The cynical gazes of three pairs of eyes stung me, more and more cornered me, with the way they walk like a duck wearing high heels hit by a container truck trying to do a little fashion show. I hope they won't embarrass themselves, note my sarcasm.

One of them spoke, "You're still standing, Lesham?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I? My head was the one that got hurt not my legs, so I still can stand like before."

Her brows furrowed, "Why don't you laugh as well, you think it's funny right?"

"HA.HA.HA. How's my laugh?"

She gritted her teeth until it was heard quite clearly, "I should have killed you that time."

I step up to clean a little invisible dust on his shoulder which is quite difficult to reach, "Look, I don't know who you are, but can't you just chilled out dude."

"Why do you want to kill me so much anyway?"

The girl let out a smirk, "Because..."

Suddenly the bathroom door was knocked down from the inside, came out Meri who was carrying her uniform with one hand, approached us after putting her things on the sink. Then proceeded to roll up his sleeves to his elbows and said in a sinister tone, "You don't want to finish what you were rambling about, Ayu?"

Ah, so her name is Ayu, the one who smacked my head, the one who got me hospitalized for almost a year. I watched her carefully from top to bottom and vice versa, it turned out to be normal, I thought she would be scarier than Wendy. It's just that her posture is twice as big as mine, if I eat a lot and drink a lot of milk, I can also be as tall as her.

I whispered, "Are you the one that smacked my head, the one that made in a coma?"

Hearing none of them responded, I repeat my questions louder, "I said...Are you Ayu? Do you know how worried are my family is? Ah, right. Even if you knew, you wouldn't care, would you?"

They were standing in silence, stuttering to answer, while Ayu is holding her rage, knowing that she's not that powerful as she used to be. One of her so true friends warned, "Uhm, Mr...Mr.Dickson will not forgive anyone for coming late to his class, let's just go. Come on."

The three of them got out at least, dragging Ayu with them who seems to be still not satisfied with insulting me, meanwhile, Meri and I decided to tidy up our clothes first before leaving for the field. Outside there were some faint male voices, we were a little afraid to open the door, but it was just Arga and the boys who were standing outside by the bathroom door.

"What with you guys standing here? Do you want to be a security guard?"

Daffin smacked me then pointed at Ayu's back which was starting to move away from our sights, "Her, she got out before you guys, cursing your names."

Meri put her hands on her hips, then gently massaged her forehead in annoyance, "Nothing happened, just Ayu being Ayu."

Arga then continued to answer, "Jaya was worried if something happened to you, so we waited here." He winked, "Or maybe next time, we can wait inside."

"Go ahead, and we'll be happy because we don't have to meet you until you are released from your detention."

While the boy just playfully scowled at me before going to take his friend to go first to the field. This multi-purpose indoor field suddenly filled with second-year students, did I miss something, it's very rare for them to ask us to gather here, moreover, it's only our grade that got here. I gently nudged Meri to ask if she knew about it, but from the shake she gave, it seemed that neither of us knew.

Mr. Dickson, our gym teacher stood in front of all the students and announced a piece of information, "There will be an inter-class competition today, so I gather all of you here. And I will put your score into the test score, so prepare well."

He then sat on one of the benches at the edge of the field with his scoreboard in his hand, and several students gathered around him as he began to take our names while waiting for my name to be called my eyes just hen saw something boxy like chocolate hidden in the new boy's sports shirt.

"Oh, Gosh. Why did he lift his shirt like that, my poor eyes."

Meri, who had been fascinated by the behavior of her crush who couldn't stay still, looked at me then burst out laughing while poking me on the sides, "Oh, dang. Mother Maria, what beautiful sights it is, wasn't it Keiysy?"

I shake my head vigorously to hide my blushing face, "No, it's just. It suddenly feels a little hot in here, I'm going to Mr. Dickson as if he called me."

Her brows were repeatedly up and down teasing me, "Are you sure your eyes...I mean are you okay, what if you fainted from looking at those abs?"

Meri's words were loud enough to distract some students' attention until she made the cold new guy turn to me too, so I told her to zip it. Fortunately, it was true that Mr. Dickson called me earlier, so I don't have to lie about trivial things.

His head lifted to see my presence, standing not far from him, "Lesham," He ordered, "Since you haven't fully recovered, you should rest in the infirmary."

Hearing the reason made me complain, "But sir the doctor said I can do sports, I even played basketball with my twin yesterday afternoon, can't you just let me play?"

However, he refused firmly, "That's what your doctor said, but I don't think you're recovering yet, don't worry I'll give you another test, maybe a writing exam."

That's one of the things I dislike most, I personally prefer practical exams to written or spoken ones, it's not fair, humph. Ah, my mood will go down if it's going to be like this.

Mr. Dickson suddenly called one of the boys' names, "Mark Jay, uh, it's not even Jay just a letter J. Where are you boy?"

Not long after the tall guy retorted, "I prefer not to say, sir."

I don't know why I was detained here just to see their conversation, but from what I heard that he was also told to rest in the school clinic because he was a little sick. Huh, what a weakling.

The two of us were escorted by the gym teacher to the hallway where the school clinic was located and then there was just the wind and the two of us left, as we walked quietly awkwardly there. The door was open but no one was inside, great. Can this get any worse? Just make me the heroine in the movies if this is how it turns out,
