When they heard screaming coming from the unit, Stuart stopped Ainsley from advancing. He was only allowed to stand in the hallway while Sinclair ran ahead to see what was going on. Then, they heard the low howl that came from the unit. With the door left without a panel blocking it, all the sounds were heard along the hallway.
The onlookers tried to open their doors and take a look, but the gaze coming from the secretary was enough to make them retreat. They were only small characters; there was no need to act like heroes, especially when the victim was that woman who did that kind of work. These people would only answer when the police came. After all, their phones couldn't even get a reception.
Stuart had secretly turned on a jammer that he was carrying to stop anyone from calling the police. He just stood there with Ainsley until the noises died down. When the woman started crying out, Stuart hurriedly came to check the matters.
Seeing what happened, Ainsley followed him slowly. The rusty smell of blood invaded his nose, but unlike before, he didn't feel anything towards it. He used to hate it and puked at its strong odor. When he got to the room, the secretary turned off the lights as if Stuart and Sinclair didn't want him to see what happened inside.
"Bastard, I finally found you." Sinclair walked to his brother and released green mist from his body. He seemed to be trying to get it to heal Roth who was dying on the floor.
"What can I do to help?" Ainsley only tripped at the things he couldn't see, but he didn't care about those. He walked next to Sinclair and realized that perhaps Sinclair needed the other half of the dragon heart to help out. Indeed, the green heart resonated with the green mist and produced some more from Ainsley's body as well.
"Is he… going to be okay?" Even if she didn't know what was going on, Alice still steeled her heart and tried not to be encumbered by despair. "Are you his friends?"
Ainsley only smiled at her. "Mr. Roth is Sinco's brother. Please try not to ask questions for now." He wanted to answer, but he felt like his energy was being drained from him. His face began to pale.
Stuart would join them, but he prioritized making sure no one would walk in the scene. Unlike Sinclair, he couldn't build a magic force field that would distort light. It's not like he could ask Sinclair to do it right now as well.
Because of that, he caught the movement of the fat, bald man who was trying to crawl despite the injuries on his face. Stuart frowned and then walked slowly, only to step on the crawling man. "Master, this one is still alive. Should I dispose of him?"
"No, just hold him down." Sinclair glanced in the direction of the bald man. He then turned to the lizard on the floor. "Roth, I dispelled the poison. Can you feel your body now? You should be able to recuperate. Feed for now… then fix your arms. How could you even live with no arms…?"
"Shut up…" A low growl came from the white lizard. The third eyelid moved to clear the dirt and blood on his eyes before Roth tried to move. At this, Alice tried to help him get up.
She then sighed in relief as well. "Mr. Roth, let's get you back in the tub. You need to get cleaned. There's so much blood on you."
The lizard, however, didn't come with her. He then turned his lizard head at the other dragon. "Can I borrow your servant? I can't drag those things with me."
"Alright."
…
The lights were turned on again, and Ainsley was appalled by all the blood on the floor. However, as if used to this, Alice was quick to start cleaning her floor. As if not wanting to just join Sinclair in sitting on the couch that was visible from where Alice had to clean, Ainsley removed his shoes and rolled up his pants and sleeves as well. The least he could do was help her clean.
Upon seeing this, Sinclair narrowed his eyes. Ainsley should be exhausted from the drain of the green heart, but he still refused to sit down and rest. Hm, humans.
Then again, Sinclair was tempted to help out as well… if only he knew what to do. Stuart cleaned after him a lot that he had forgotten how to do some things on his own. Maybe if it was just the two of them, he could ask Ainsley.
As for Stuart, he had gone out to find clothes for Roth. He should be back soon.
"What day is it today?" A certain familiar voice soon echoed, and the two people cleaning the floor turned in the direction of the bathroom from where the voice came from. When they did, they saw a young man drying his unkempt hair with a towel. He was only donned in a bathrobe as if he newly took a shower.
"Wednesday, September XX," Sinclair answered as he realized that the two others were frozen solid in the sight of him. The older brother then snorted at Roth who even took a turn to get to the fridge. "You still have two days before the Grand Draw. You're lucky."
Roth only snorted back and raided the fridge before taking out a full pitcher of water. He didn't even bother with a glass as he started to drink all of it. He paid no attention to the two humans on the floor. Even when he finished the pitcher and tried to drink down another one.
As if not taking it anymore, Ainsley sat on his ankles from kneeling on the floor. He then pointed at the man. "You're the one from the alley! I knew it! You look so close to Sinco!"
"Hmph, still very noisy." Roth didn't even take a look at him before staring at the pitcher of juice. He sniffed the liquid and decided not to drink it. Since there was nothing much on the fridge, he finally closed it and turned to Sinclair instead. "What are you planning to do now? Are you sending me back to the island?"
"Do you want to go?" As if forgetting the promise he made to their parents, Sinclair only hummed.
