We Might not See Each Other Again

At this question, Roth only declined through a hum. He didn't want to go back to the island after this blunder. He then received the clothes from Stuart who had returned just now. "I want to bring back the head of that presumptuous cannibal who dared attack and poison me. Call Michelle and make her convince them that I'm still missing."

Sinclair only chuckled. "No."

A snort was Roth's answer. "I didn't expect otherwise from you. You must have felt so powerless when you're looking for someone you can't find in a snap. I wish I could have seen your face."

"I don't think you'd ever see it." The older brother only smirked victoriously. He then waved his hand at Roth. "I'm tired of seeing your disgusting legs. Get clothed. We're leaving."

"Leaving? Where are you taking Mr. Roth?" As if the word 'leaving' had awakened Alice from her daze, she then spoke in worry. They were taking the handsome man away? She hadn't even spoken to him yet. He's already leaving?

"Away from here. The police would surely come after we turn off the jammer," Stuart answered as he looked at the two humans cleaning the floor. They really didn't have to do it. He then pushed up his glasses. "Master, the rooms are prepared. Let's go after they finish changing."

The secretary also turned to Alice. "Ms. Campbell, you're coming with us. Please change into something more comfortable."

At this, Alice realized that she was dirty from getting mopped against the floor. She only patted her dress and got up. With hurried steps, she got into the bedroom to pick out new clothes. For some reason, Roth actually followed her, to Ainsley's surprise. He wanted to call out the other, but Stuart only told him to look decent himself.

When she felt that someone followed her in, Alice turned to find Roth walking inside. Her eyes blinked once, but the brother was not like Sinclair who didn't care about people's eyes. He chose a corner and kept his back facing her.

"Stick with me. Don't trust that guy too much," Roth actually said.

"Ah, oh…" Alice only nodded before working on her own clothes. She then glanced at his back before speaking again, "He looked so relieved when they found you. When you said you were hiding from someone, I didn't think it was from your own brother."

"Erm, no. I'm not hiding from him." At those words, Roth only glared at the wall in front of him. "I actually thought of sending him more signals that I'm with you when he didn't show up as soon as I crashed here. I'm running away from someone more dangerous."

Someone more dangerous than Sinclair? There used to be no creature like that, but now that Sinclair had lost almost half of his power, Roth had learned that their moonlight dragon clan was not the most powerful now. Just like what he feared when he felt Sinclair making that mistake.

He then realized that someone actually embraced him from behind. He turned to find Alice wrapping her arms around his waist. Her forehead then pressed against his back. "What are you doing?"

"Thank you for saving me almost every time. Just now, you even almost died because of me. Since you're not even something ordinary, there is next to nothing that I can do for you." She then sighed. "We might not see each other again after this so… thank you very much. I haven't had anyone care for me that much. Even if you tell me that you're just trying to eat… I don't want to believe that."

"…then don't. Why should I force you?" Roth held onto her wrists to take her arms off of him. "I still have to put my shirt on. Step back."

"Can I help you with that?" Alice figured that this person wasn't really a human even by the way he reacted. Either that or he was just declining her for good. She only stepped back and helped out with the shirt even if it was a simple tee. Her hand then reached for the comb and tried to tame the hair on Roth's head.

Roth and Alice then left the room after she hurriedly packed a few things as if she didn't want to return to this place even. The secretary was the only one waiting for them as Sinclair had already walked to the car downstairs.

While in the car, Roth was only watching the passing scenery from the window. He was sitting in the backseat with Sinclair and Ainsley. The human was fiddling with his phone while the CEO was trying to sleep on the ride. Alice was only looking around as if trying to figure out where Stuart was taking them. The younger dragon then moved his eyes to look at the rest before flicking his gaze at the woman on the passenger's seat.

He wanted to discuss with Sinclair, but he knew he couldn't open his mouth in the car. Not only was Ainsley here, but that woman was not even part of this. If she ended up getting caught up in their trouble, wouldn't it be a waste of his energy if she still died?

Tch, it wasn't even him to care about other people. Roth grew furious, but he couldn't really say why he was getting angry. The only thing he could do was to keep the growling to himself. He was annoyed by things he didn't understand.

It continued until they reached the hotel. It was not the same one where Gavyn stayed, but it was not a place that Alice had not gone to. They were given keys each, aside from Ainsley who would be staying with Sinclair in the VIP room.

"I guess this is it. Thank you for your help." Alice only nodded at the men before clutching at the keys given to her. She then turned away and left for the elevator.

She had already gone away before Ainsley nudged at Sinclair. He then whispered, but everyone caught his words: "Hey, Sinco, what now? Didn't you agree to reward her? What are you planning to do now? Look, Roth is already standing there in front of you because of her."

At those words, Roth and Sinclair ended up meeting each other's gazes. The younger dragon only huffed before leaving them. However, he said, "I'll talk to her. Don't you dare do anything."
