-----5 Months Since Soul Rebirth-----
During these few months Shane made great advancements. As he gained better control over the particles, he tried developing techniques through using them. He tried making them form simple shapes and fire them outwards. However besides moving air he was unable to generate a satisfactory response. His best advancement was in the form of cloaking which he focused quite heavily on. He focused on this particular aspect through the realization that his species may be rare and a delicacy.
In these paths few months Shane was able to increase his sense up to 50 metres away. He found that every month he was able to grow his senses by 10 metres. Thanks to this he was able to see the forest he was living in all the more clearly. Although the captivating scenery was distracting, he found his own variety of plants very rare. The silver blue grass were spread endlessly but the grey plants were scarcely found. Also, the grey plants were far better at absorbing the particles which could mean it was some kind of a superior plant added by the fact he could not find strong poisons within himself meant he would be a delicacy.
Due to this it could mean that he was unable to find more of his brethren as they were all eaten. Shane theory was proven as 2 months ago a soft white rabbit gnawed on what seemed to be his brethren. Added by the satisfaction on the rabbits face it was clear it enjoyed eating his species very much. Obviously unwilling to be eaten and recycled in the process called life, Shane tried developing a camouflage technique.
He based the idea of cloaking. In general, an invisibility cloak works by diverting the path of light around an object so that it continues on the other side as if the object were not there. Shane implemented this through the use of blue particles. The particles seemed to be unbiased to elements and organisms it seemed to be a fuel and thus could turn into anything. Through applying a gentle layer over his body, he was able to imitate the effect of cloaking as it sent light around himself bending it in the process. In the start the distortion were obvious the air would shimmer but over time he gained better control and the cloaking became far harder to detect. He also released the same amount of particles into the air to mirror the surroundings. Unfortunately, there was a time limit as he could only hold a small amount of the particles within himself.
Shane tried to cloak things away from his body but found it impossible as the plants and the environment absorbed the particles instead of letting a thin film form around them.
He was able to put his newly found ability to use today. A giant creature towering over the wild life marched into the meadows were Shane lived. Its towering physique hulking with muscles as sharp horns over a foot long protruded from its head. It was very similar to a bull from earth besides its rather intimidating body.
Also, Shane found the bull like creature enjoy grazing on the grass. That was definitely not a good sign if you were one of them. It was mor like a death flag.
Damn herbivores.
In contrast to the nervous Shane the wind lazily blew past unhurriedly in the direction of the bull seemingly unaware of the harm it would cause Shanes new family. The gentle wind moved past the bull carrying a delicate delicious smell into its flared nostrils. Its head shot up like a peacock and its excited gaze casted over the patch of blue.
The bull galloped towards the patch leaving deep hove marks in its wake shaking the ground like a natural catastrophe. Shane knew it was do or die so he used his practiced technique in full gear. Shane may not be a genius but was smart, arriving in this new world he received no cheats or golden fingers.
He received nothing.
Using his knowledge and basic deduction he knew a plants combat ability was very low which was the main reason he went off the direction of attack and choose to develop supportive skills instead. In the wild it was about survival and he didn't possess the knowledge or body to become a killing machine.
The bull briskly arrived before the patch of blue grey raising its head mightily to the sky before angling it downwards and burrowing deep into the cluster of grass. Its mouth open and closed mechanically as its nose flared with deep breaths wanting to absorb the fragrance into its self. Its head moved like a lawn mower eating the plants with unprecedented speeds sending roots shoots and other plant material all over the place.
At the side watching the monster devour his new family Shane watched the scene horrified. The bull did turn towards himself for brief periods but finding nothing it continued to graze on the blue grey plant.
"If you keep eating my family you heartless b*tch ill make steak out of you"
Of course, Shane didn't really say that. First, he couldn't speak and secondly, he looked on horrified at the creature even holding his breath if plants could. The bull finally finishing its madness turned on it heels seeming to swagger back from where ever it came.
As the beast went further out of view Shane let go of his cloaking, he was mentally exhausted as it took quite a lot of energy, being the last of his species in the patch he turned towards the leftovers of his new family.
"Although it was brief, we spent great times together"
Shane pretended to tear up before moving his roots towards his previous family. He couldn't leave these nutrients to waste after all.
