Secrets

As Violet and I were doing our supporter assignments in our cooperative silence in the dimly light room, there was commotion outside. We checked the time and it was past midnight. We decided to get ahead in our assignments since we could.

Violet and I looked to each other, "Should we see what all the buzz is with it being so late Faas?"

"Hmmmm, I think we should check. It shouldn't be a problem." ,I said.

Coming out of our dark office, the student council was empty. We had heard many footsteps and noises, so we were a little bewildered. Violet says, "No way, we heard tens of people. They couldn't have disappeared in a couple seconds like this."

I nod in agreement, "I concur Violet, let's search for clues. It's in our curriculum to do so anyway, so let's give it a try."

Violet nodded and we both started to search for clues. To my surprise, Violent found something before me.

"Damn, guess this girl has some luck on her side. Or perhaps something more?", I thought.

"I found footprint traces on some dust. It's hard to see, but it's there. They seemingly go into the wall here.", Violet says.

I look where she said she saw the tracks. With normal eyes, it would not be possible to see them. Which is curious. As I am unaware of any abilities she has.

"Okay, then lets open up this wall somehow.", I said. We started analyzing and feeling the wall for anything unordinary. Feeling around, I could feel some magic flow in certain spot on the wall. It was flowing into certain paths on that spot, like a circuit, but also a puzzle. After staring it down for a little while, I was able to find the correct activation method. Activating the magic circuit thingy made the wall open up. I'll have to look up what this circuit is later.

Violet turned to me to give me a questioning look. "Guess I managed to touch the secret button on the wall.", is what I said to her. She bought it thankfully.

We walked into the passageway quietly. A staircase led us down into an old gothic hall. At the end of the hall was a large stone double-door. We both had high-tech supporter pads were rewarded for being star students. The pads had a sound reception booster. So activated our headpieces and pads so we can listen in through the doors.

"And people says supporters are boring, we're the one with all the gadgets, hehe.", I proudly thought.

So as were both listening in....

"The dimension breaks are picking up. Only sliver lining is that the breaks are weaker. Although, this happens every time a stronger dimension break happens."

"Indeed, the extradimensional beasts will be another target for leaguers. We can't let them capture any strong monsters. Whenever they release the ones they bred, or captured, they are always at least a little stronger. It is very disruptive to society. We have to closely monitor in case one of those stronger dimension breaks happens within our jurisdiction. The leaguers won't give us the slip this time."

"The wiping agents are also having to work overtime. The ones on leave have been called back and the newbies are having their training periods shortened. Luckily, the new wiping sticks are reusable, so our resources are fine. The masses that are exposed to the dimension breaks are having their memories cleaned well enough too. The newbie agents are above average this recruitment cycle. Cover-up is going well. The alien threats are stressful enough to the common population, adding extradimensional threats would be too much."

"Speaking of alien threats. The Hijar Unity started a war with the Boreal Confederacy. We have a non-agression pact with both as our systems are neighbors. But the world brass is still concerned with the war spilling over to Sol space."

"We have had alien refugees before. Both nations won't dare pursue anyone to earth. We may not be openly spacefaring as we can't advance the world as a whole too fast. They should not underestimate us though. The forces of Earth aren't weak."

"I agree, but who knows. If there are idiots on Earth, there are idiots in space. Also, those cosmic horrors are trying breach the Earth wards and inject some of their will here again. We never let them do it again after the first time, but the magi keep complaining how annoying it is as it happens every ten years. What can we do though. Going into deep space to fight those horrors is beyond our capability right now. We'll just have to continue dealing with the damn cults."

Violet and I were amazed at the information we learned. I saw the gleam in her eye and I knew she wanted to get her hands on alien technology. As the meeting ended, we both realized we had no escape plan. Once we realized it was a secret meeting, we decided it was best not to show ourselves, but forgot to figure out how to do it. We both may be geniuses, but youth has an impulsiveness to it still and we weren't an exception.

We heard the footsteps approaching the doors and were slightly panicking. I said to Violet, "Trust me?"

Violet said, "Always partner.". I was happy I got paired with a highly compatible person that we could trust each other so well. I praised my good luck.

I immediately grabbed her, I made us both invisible, and floated us to the ceiling. She looked at with astonished eyes. I telepathically said to her, "I'll explain later Violet."

She nodded and sent back through the two-way mind link, "You better partner."

We saw plenty of people walking out. We saw Ophis Dantalion, our principal, many faculty, others I didn't recognize, council members walking behind them, like Julia Gunngrave, Kalia Crescent and even Atmora.

Once they left, I flew us out of their before the secret wall entrance closed behind them.
