Magic

Krelxia smiled at Silver. "You're ruthless, savage and unrelenting. You never hesitated, nor wavered in the slightest. I'd say your fighting style is around level 5. If you were stronger, physically, you'd be much higher than that." Silver nodded as a light *DING* Went off in her head. Opening her notifications, it said "New Skill: 'Fighting Style Lvl 5 (Scythe)'. Fight battles to increase level. Helps to chain attacks better."

Krelxia continued. "We'll go back to my office. I'll have you sit down and attempt to feel your mana. I have to fill out the paperwork for your citizenship. Don't worry though, you can have citizenship to as many countries in Ateal as you are able to get."

.....

Entering the office once again, it was dark, but both Krelxia and Silver could see. Silver sat on the couch while Krelxia walked to her desk and sat down. "Focus on your body. Below your sternum, you should sense a swirl of mana, once you're able to control it, let me know."

Silver nodded, "Thank you, Krelxia."

Silver immediately got to work. She closed her eyes and entered meditation. She tried to sense it below her sternum, but couldn't feel anything. She searched all along her body before finally finding her mana. It rested around her heart. She assumed it was a "vampire" thing, and she was correct. Pure blooded vampire mana resides around their heart.

.....

An hour later, Krelxia was sitting at her desk, finishing the paperwork, when she looked towards Silver, she was shocked. Small shadows were creeping up her right arm. Silver opened her eyes and smiled.

Krelxia whistled in approval. "That has to be the fastest I think I've ever seen in my lifetime, congratulations. When I return, I'll give you a rundown on how mana works. Oh, I'll also have your citizenship pass. Keep practicing, I'll be right back." Krelxia left the room.

Five minutes later, Krelxia entered the room. When she saw Silver, she smiled. Her face was obscured by a shadowy mask. Her eyes peered over the mask, while her pale hands were covered in shadows, obscuring them. Krelxia walked forward and sat at the windowsill. She tossed the citizenship pass onto the couch. "Spell chants are not required, although they help. Chanting is used to gain better imagery, nothing more, nothing less. Better imagery will lead to stronger spells and less required mana. You've been gifted excellent imagery and impressive mana control. You probably won't ever need a chant. While we don't use spells, it's more like effects. Affininity for an element means that you can control that element to an extent. Mana is divided into tiers: beginner, intermediate, adept, expert, and master. A Beginner water wizard can create small water bullets, AND if they're creative enough, create ice. At the beginner tier, most magic is limited. As your tier increases, the amount and extent of your control will increase. While a beginner tier water wizard can at most conjure ten to fifteen water bullets, a master can summon tidal waves and destroy cities."

Krelxia paused for a moment. "Natural elements are everywhere, for example, the shadows in this room. We can control these shadows."

She waved her hand as the shadows converged at her fingertips before she flicked them across the room.

"Controlling an element is far easier than summoning it. It's easier to control the shadows around us, than it is to summon them. Magic itself is a form of art. The stronger your image, the better you mana usage will be. As a half caster class, you will have higher mana than melee classes, while full casters will have a higher mana. Makes sense?"

Silver nodded. "Yes, it makes sense now, thank you. However, I have a couple questions. One: Is it possible to gain affinity for a separate element? Two: How do you increase your affinity?"

"Gaining control over another element is difficult. Only a few items are able to do this. They are extremely rare, and almost impossible to find. As for increasing your affinity, You'll know when you hit the end of beginner tier, once that happens, find me and I'll help you reach intermediate. I'll explain more of it then."

Silver looked perplexed. "Why can't you tell me now? Is there a specific reason?"

Krelxia sighed. "I am lazy, but I'll explain. Beginner tier to intermediate tier elemental magic requires a master level mage's approval, I'll have to infuse my shadow mana with yours. After that, your mana realm will form. To increase it past intermediate, you'll have to absorb shadows and transfer them to your mana realm. It can take awhile."

Silver nodded as her eyes widened. "I see, so what happens if I obtain a second element while still in the beginner tier?"

Krelxia chuckled to herself "It's impossible, no race has ever managed it, and everyone that tried has blown up in the process. Without the mana realm, you can't obtain anymore elements. That's all I will teach you today. Come back tomorrow and I'll have something for you to do."

Silver stood up and prepared to leave when there was a light knock on the door.
