Resolve

August teleported all of them to the new guild office. He also brought all the beast corpses that were still intact. The number of beast corpses was staggering. They were piled in the underground chamber. This was meant for supplies and storage but the overwhelming number of beast corpses filled the entire space.

After some time Daisy recovered her aura and woke up. She looked around and realized that she was in the guild office. Lilith, who was sitting by her side, noticed her panicked face.

" I see you've recovered your aura. Don't worry, everything was taken care of and nothing serious happened. You were the only one who suffered heavy injuries. August healed you after he brought you back to the bubble. As for Nile, he fought against the S rank beast and defeated it on his own." Lilith gave her an amusing smile.

Daisy clenched her fist and got up from the bed.

" Why were you in the bubble while we fought the beast? I can understand if it was him, but why didn't he let you fight with us? You are an S class after all." Daisy bellowed.

" Well, I'm sure he had his reasons for keeping me there. Maybe he didn't want me to interfere in the fight. If I were to join, you might not have experienced a tough battle." Lilith looked at her with a sharp gaze.

" Whatever." She walked out of the room and closed the door loudly.

Lilith looked at the door with a curious gaze as a smirk appeared on her face.

After getting back to the guild office, Fatty was assigned to take care of the beast corpses. August only allowed him to sell the S rank beast corpses or lower and kept the SS rank beast corpses to himself.

There was a lot of work to do and very little manpower. Fatty was recruiting new employees for office work. He lost a considerable amount of weight and looked sharper. His stomach was not bulging and his arms looked bulkier.

' Look at him now. Nobody will believe me if I tell them it's him.' August thought to himself.

Nile was talking to the newly recruited employees and instructing them what to do. He turned around and sighed. Wearing a tight black suit that perfectly showed his bulky physique he walked towards August.

" Brother, I've recruited all the non-user employees for the guild. The managing staff is handpicked by me, so we don't have to worry about finances. I notified the DoA about the beast corpses. Due to the recent incident, the DoA is busy but they will reply soon enough. The amount we have is not something to brush off lightly." Nile said

" That's good to know. Looks like the DoA's investigation is going nowhere. I made sure to remove all evidence, so it's understandable." August nodded his head.

" I was thinking about building an auction house and incorporating our guild, so we could sell our beast corpses and cores at the auction house."

" Not bad. I thought you are more cut out for this than hunting. But now I am not so sure." August said with a smile on his face.

" It's nothing compared to the situations you put me through. Still, I'm glad that I followed you, or else I would've been running for my life. At least I can defend myself and not be afraid of my brother."

" Don't look down on yourself. You just needed a spark to burn brighter, it was just a matter of time. I helped you get there faster and safer."

" Honestly, I don't know how I defeated the S rank monster. I heard what Miss. Octave said but still, I don't know if I can do that again."

" Don't worry about it. I'm sure we will figure something out. Besides, I think you are just getting started. You are almost S rank now, but that is not enough for the upcoming war. You are not even a speck of dust compared to those monsters. But I know you have the potential to reach that level. So believe in yourself, Nile." August looked straight into his eyes.

Nile was entranced by what he heard.

" Bro… are you okay? Am I dreaming?"

He pinched his hand in disbelief.

" You heard it right. I did a lot of extreme things, but you didn't complain. I was looking at your resolve, to improve yourself. And I was pleasantly surprised. You surpassed my earlier expectations." August got up from his chair and patted on his shoulder.

" Still… I didn't mind you calling me fatty."

" You still want me to call you that, huh?" August asked with a smirk.

" Nah… now that I'm kinda buff, you should call me handsome." Nile winked.

" You want to go back to the lake alone, Mr. Handsome?" August said casually.

" … NO! I'm good. I have a lot of work to do, so if you will excuse me." Nile slowly turned back and walked away.

August shook his head with a smile. Now that the guild had plenty of resources and money, they could start the construction of the new guild office. Nile gave him the list of all the available land in the town. He selected five of them and asked for his opinion on the final selection.

He looked at all of them and chose the one that was near the river. He finalized the decision and checked off the others. He wanted this office building to be sturdy enough to withstand a nuclear explosion. Maybe at point-blank range, it was near impossible, but if he could add artifacts of the highest quality then it might be able to survive.

He got up from his seat and looked outside the window. The sun was almost setting and the red halo around it reflected off of the high-rises. The world didn't know what kind of terrible catastrophe was approaching, but it was inevitable.

He wanted the people to stay in peace for the time being before the invasion occurs. If he was successful at stopping all the foreign entities then the organisms on this planet might survive, or else they will be assimilated within them.

They might select a small group to work under them but that would be a very small fraction of the population. Even they would be puppets without freedom.

' Am I going to be like them?' He looked at his reflection on the glass.

It was understandable that rulers needed to expand. He knew that in order to get the power you had to get resources. And to the rulers, it was the quantum force field. Every side was interested in the conscious beings as they served as the epicenter for the quantum force to gather.

Normal life forms had no way to access the quantum force, but they were the catalyst for the generation of the field. From the information he gathered from the continental ruler, the more conscious beings gathered in one place, the faster the field grows.

He needed to get stronger to fight against the planetary rulers and above. He didn't want to forcefully control the world, but to be prepared for the future threat and unite all living beings, he had to do it.

' To find peace, you have to gain power.'

The weak can never stay in peace or prosperity as the powerful always snatches away their peace. Maybe someone who has some decency could leave some breadcrumbs to the weak so that they don't gang up on them, but that was for the slight difference in power.

Once the power gap increases, the weak people are not even worth looking at. Maybe that's what the rulers thought. He didn't know their motive, but it was along those lines. A powerful person seeks more power, just like a knowledgeable person seeks more knowledge.

But the undeniable fact was that survival came at a cost. Either fight or flight. In this case, there was nowhere to run. All moral values disappear in the face of survival and self preservation.

' I might not be the best person to do this, but I can't let the foreign entities devour our universe. My universe.'

He didn't know why he got the quantum force field or the title of the Universal ruler, but he couldn't just brush it off. Especially after he knew what was about to come. There was only one way out of this.

' I will give them a pleasant surprise.' August smiled as he looked at the setting sun.
