Chapter 41: Battle of Rose Harbour (2)

The Rosewood soldiers pour out of the gates and move information right before the city walls. They are armed with medium black armors, round shields and spears. Honestly, they are just militias who have just been trained by Lord Harry for 3 months after receiving news of the raiders. Thorax stands in the first line, hold his ax by the right hand and his shield by the left, he shouts:

- SHIELD WALL!

The first line kneels and uses their shield to protect the lower half of their comrades, while the second protects the upper half. The third line raises their shield and protects their companions from any possible attacks from above. Under the command of Batar, the Lyrions get in their battle formation, however, they are not in an advantageous place. Arrows from the walls pour on them, even pierce their shield or their armor.

The oil and Greek fire barrels' targets now shift from the ships to the raiders who manage to get on the shore. They fell to the ground, screaming painfully. Gather about 10000 soldiers and have them in the shield wall, Batar manages to reduce their casualties while waiting for his remaining troops to get on the shore. When he sees the Rosewood soldiers get out of the gates, he sees this as his chance to break through this hardness. He shouts:

- WHO WANT TO CRUSH THESE DOGS FOLLOW ME.

And then Batar gets to the first line and moves forward, his soldiers maintain the shield wall formation and advance to follow him. They quickly spring up to the shield wall of the Fortunians. Shields clash with each other, sword clashes swords and screams of men killed happens, both armies fight to their maximum power for their purposes.

Two shield walls continue to be pushed against others, with men trying to attack from the gaps between the shield. However, with the support of archers from the walls, the Rosewood militias slowly push back their enemies although being outnumbered. Thorax sees that their enemies are trembling and pushed back, he shouts:

- THEY ARE TREMBLING. LET'S SEND THEM BACK TO WHERE THEY BELONG.

- PUSH.

The shield wall formation of more than 6000 Rosewood soldiers push wave by wave, many Lyrion raiders lose their morale and try to flee back to their ships; however, Batar's trusted men kill every man who tries to run away, frighten the others, and keep the desperate troops to maintain their formation.

Luckily for the attackers, another 100 ships from the Lyrion fleet reach the shore, and the men get down from them look much tougher. Their huge bodies can be seen under the sunlight with their two-handed long axes, which proves that they can cut men as easily as pigs. Batar notices their reinforcements, smile:

- THE MARAUDERS ARE HERE, PUSH! BROTHERS! PUSH! FOR OUR MASTER.

The Lyrion marauders charges toward the advancing Rosewood militias, their axes held high. With a swing, a marauder cut a man by half through his shield. The Lyrions' morale rises, and instead of trying to run away, they counter-attack the Fortunians. Now, instead of fighting advantageously, the Fortunians are being passive and have to retreat after facing the savage charge of the marauders.

Sir Lancel, sees that Thorax's men are being driven back by the fierce monsters who have just get on the shore. He command:

-ARCHERS! KILL THOSE FUCKING MONSTERS.

Then, he turns to one of his retainers:

- Sir Harold, you're in charge of the wall.

- Yes, sir.

Lance picks up his spear and goes downstairs, he shouts:

- LEGIONARIES AND MEN OF THE ORDER, FOLLOW ME. LET'S SHOW THESE FUCKING RAIDERS HOW FORTUNIAN MEN FIGHT.

5000 Royal legionaries and Blue Ordermen get out of the gate and support the Rosewood soldiers. The brutal fight between two armies lasts for hours, the battle turns into a living hell where everything men know is to kill their enemies. Aside from the hard-trained Fortunian legionaries, others have spread out and fight individually, which causes catastrophic casualties to the militia troops since when fighting alone, they are no March for the Lyrion raiders and marauders.

Thorax throws his ax, which strikes a marauder's head and kills him immediately. He uses his shield to punch a Lyrion raider, sending his teeth to the ground. Grabs a spear on the ground, Thorax continues to fight his enemies. However, he is stabbed at his leg from behind; struggle to get up, he thrust his spear into the sneaker's throat.

The bloody battle continues, the Fortunian soldiers start to gain ground. Unluckily, when they think they've gain advantages to a certain extent, more ships disembark on the shore and more Lyrion raiders or marauders get in the fights. 20000 newly come Lyrions roar and charge, Lancel, who is slightly wounded by a stray arrow, looks at the charging enemies:

- Ohh God Lord, please save us.

The sounds of trumpets rise from the west. Both sides stop fighting and try to figure out where the sounds come from. And what they see frighten the Lyrions, banners of blue and black cover the sky. Leading the vanguard of the 5000 charging cavalries of house Rosewood and house Fortuna is Sir George of Neverwinter, Lord Alfred, and Lord Harry of Rose Harbour. Followed by an army of 25000 infantries behind them, the cavalries charge the Lyrions and cause havocs on the battlefield.

Batar looks to the sea, the harbor has been covered by their ships already, there won't be enough space for reinforcements to come, losing this battle is certain. He mounts a horse and tells his retainers:

- GET ON YOUR HORSES, WE NEED TO RUN FROM THIS FUCKING PLACE.

- But our men, sir.

- Fuck all of them, if we can't get out of here. We're dead, go and protect me to go back to the fleet or I'll chop your heads off.

The Lyrions notice the absence of their commander, they throw their weapons and run to their ships. However, many have been burned by the Fortunian soldiers, only some make their way to the sea. Those who can not get on a ship fast enough to flee are chopped by the Fortunian army or More luckily captured.

In 1 hour, no more Lyrions on the shore still breathe or untied, this valiant victory of the Fortuna Kingdom is just the beginning of the First Fortunian- Lyrion war.
