Chapter 3

When Sally woke up the next morning she felt refreshed and strong.

Amanda was right. She thought. All she needed was sleep and comfort. With a new energy Sally Sue swung her legs down from the bed and went downstairs.

Amanda was on the phone when she got to the living room, and immediately Amanda saw her she smiled widely.

"My little cupcake is awake!" She teased walking towards Sally.

Sally smiled.

But even though Sally smiled, Amanda could still notice the darkness and heartbreak laced in her eyes.

She heaved a sigh.

"I made breakfast." Amanda announced.

Sally barely smiled but she felt grateful. Amanda was really like a sister to her.

"I'm going to the company today." Sally said slumping on the couch

"Why?" Amanda asked, even though she knew why.

"We're getting divorced." A hint of deep sadness flashed in Sally's eyes but quickly vanished.

"Oh. Come have breakfast." Amanda began setting the plates on the table and bringing the food.

Sally Sue walked over to the table where Amanda was standing, and smiled, her eyes lighting up with excitement as she saw the plates of food on the table.

"Ah... You made so much food!"

Amanda grinned, "I know you would be very hungry, see I even made your favorite, ribs and steak."

Sally Sue took a chair and began eating.

Amanda smiled pitifully at Sally Sue, "promise me one thing sally."

Sally looked up with a mouthful of food, "what?."

Amanda held Sally's hand, care ladened in her eyes, "promise me that you won't cry when you she him. You've to be strong."

Sally Sue smiled.

Since when had someone cared about her so much?

"Yes. I promise."

Amanda smiled and sat down near Sally to eat her breakfast.

After eating Sally Sue thanked Amanda and walked upstairs to get dressed.

As she entered the room, she closed the door and picked up her phone to call Charles Gu.

Normally, Sally Sue never used her phone to call Charles Gu, cause she knew he would never pick, instead she used the house phone of the Gu family.

But now as she tried to call him, she had few hopes that he would pick up, they were getting divorced after all, there was no need for him to keep on ignoring her, but much to her surprise he didn't pick up.

She sighed heavily disappointed.

Slowly, she sauntered to the bathroom to take a shower.

By the time she came out, Amanda Wang had already sorted out the dress Sally Sue was going to wear.

It was a short floral skirt, with a fine pretty T-shirt and a pair of white sneakers.

"Don't you think this clothes are too casual?" Sally Sue asked, tilting her head a little bit to the side.

Amanda Wang dropped the clothes on the bed and turned to stare at Sally sue, before rolling her eyes"well... I don't think so... Its not a party that you have to dress so exquisitely, except your going there to do something else. They are really pretty. I just ordered them."

"I know." Sally Sue's face turned pink for a moment, "what am just saying is that its too formal."

"I don't think so."

Take a look...."

After much bantering Sally Sue finally settled down for a short, high, green dress, with a high collar, and a pair of white heels.

Then she sat down on her dressing mirror and began applying her makeup.

Sally Sue was not a person who relied on heavy makeup to look pretty, but today she had gone miles away from her light makeup. The reason was because she wanted to cover her eyebags, she couldn't let him see her like this, else it would give more chance for Tracy Wang to torment her. As she stared at the mirror after brushing her hair, she smiled satisfied.

She knew she looked beautiful.

She frowned a little when the thought of all the makeup products lying on her vanity table back at the Gu mansion, flashed in her mind.

Two years ago, when she had first been married to Charles Gu, she had tried to look as pretty and classic as she could for Charles Gu.

She had even gone ahead to do a research on his past girlfriends to know how he liked his women.

After she had done the research, she discovered that all the women Charles Gu ever dated were daughters of high class business men, few were actresses, but a lot were daughters of high company owners.

going deeper into her research, sally Sue discovered that most of the women he dated, got into a relationship with him through the help of grandpa.

Just like she had done.

Digging deeper, she realized that Charles Gu only dated women who he was sure, was going to add to his business empires.

And she....what had she even done to him....

She was just an adopted daughter of the Sue family, she had nothing.

At first she had thought, her ethereal beauty would draw him to her, after all, hadn't she been the one who won all the titles for the school's belle since she was in highschool?

But much to her surprise, Charles Gu hadn't even gaped or looked at her for the second time when they first met.

It was that single action that had drawn her to him.

A small sigh escaped her thin lips as she stared at the mirror.

Now wasn't the time to bring back bad memories.

Sally Sue sighed as she drove into the Gu family company.

For a moment, she wanted to turn her car away and head back to her house, but she knew that she couldn't bear it anymore.

Its better I divorce him now. Sally sue thought to herself.

She looked at her mirror again, making sure her makeup was still good before she picked up her phone and got out of the car.

Taking a deep breathe, Sally Sue began walking towards the company building.

When she entered the building, she immediately walked towards the receptionist office.

She was determined to get done with this as soon as possible.

Reaching the receptionist office, Sally Sue let out a nervous smile, before muttering to the receptionist who was typing swiftly on the computer at her front "uhm...hi....."

The receptionist raised her head to stare at the woman in her front.

Slowly a smile crept into the receptionist face as she stared at Sally Sue, "Miss Sue, what happened? I haven't seen you around here in a while."

"Oh..." Sally Sue smiled, her hands resting nervously by her sides. "Its because er.... I.... resigned."

"Oh." The receptionist face fell. "What do you want me to do for you then?"

"I need to see Mr Gu."

The receptionist said smoothly, "what for miss?"

Sally Sue felt a little bit sad, she really couldn't believe that after Three years of marriage to Charles Gu, nobody was still able to know that she had married him.
