Hearing the soft thudding of Cole’s paws fade into the woods, Eires can't help but feel a sense of loneliness wash over her. As much as she told herself that she didn’t want to be part of their world, there are days when the moon is full she feels a certain type of yearning for something more. She was not exactly sure what exactly she wanted more of but she felt like there’s a gaping hole in her life, like something was missing.
Hearing the distinct howl of her father in the distance, Eires felt something come over her. Suddenly, she saw flashes of a scene in the woods. She was in a clearing somewhere in the woods on the reserve, the female wolves were running into the trees towards the mountains. About five minutes later she heard a second howl and the male wolves began running towards the females in a type of frenzy.
The vision then blurred and when it came back into focus she saw that there were more and more female wolves circling around her, however instead of attacking her, the wolves were nipping and growling at each other. The vision blurred again and suddenly she saw her secret cave come into view and was slowly scaling the side of the cliff side to get to it.
Eires felt like she was playing a really bad game of telephone where she didn’t know what was happening and had to haphazardly guess what these visions meant. She wished she could ignore these visions as this was definitely the first time it has happened, but somehow she couldn’t shake the feeling that she needed to find out what these visions meant and there was only one way she was going to find out.
Staring at the woods and knowing the answers to her visions was going to be solved as soon as she got to her cave, against her better judgement Eires pushed her windows and looked around. Checking thrice to ensure that the coast was clear, Eires jumped out of her window into the shadows before elegantly landing on the ground. She knew she only had a limited amount of time before she needed to be back in her room, Eires sure hoped whatever that was calling out to her was worth it.
After about ten minutes into her little adventure and running into countless pairs of Lycans in wolf form chasing one another in a game of cat and mouse ,Eires was seriously reconsidering her actions. Knowing that wolves generally prefer to stay on the ground, Eires pulled herself onto a tree using a low hanging branch to weigh out her options. She could turn back and stay in her room for the remainder of the night or she could grow a pair and push through.
Eires knew that going back and staying in her room for the rest of the night was probably the safer option plus she just promised Cole that she was going to try and stay out of trouble until at least next month. However she was finding it progressively harder to ignore the pull she felt inside of her to keep going.
She didn’t know what it was- it could be her gut, it could be the moon, heck it could even be residual adrenaline pumping through her veins but as soon as she stepped foot into the woods tonight, the wave of longing and hunger had intensified deep within her soul. Like a siren calling out, something within those woods was drawing her in, urging her to run towards her cave as though her life depended on it.
Looking up at the full moon, Eiry knew she really was fighting a losing battle with her inner wolf. There was only so much will power a Lycan had - even a tainted one like her. This was unlike anything she had ever experienced before, it was as though a primal urge inside her had suddenly chosen this exact moment to awaken and was taking over, overpowering all other senses.
Pulling the shadows around her to form a barrier that engulfed her form, Eires could feel a sense of weightlessness come over her as she travelled further into the forest. Seeing the entrance of her cave come into view just like she did in her vision, Eires felt her heart race to a crescendo when she neared the entrance to the cave, almost as though something life changing was about to take place.
Letting the shadows fade away once she was safely inside her cave, Eires instinctively sidestepped the stalactites and stalagmites, without waiting for her eyes to adjust to the dark.. Just as her eyes started to adjust, she could see that on top of her daybed-which she fashioned from wooden palettes, blankets and cushions, was one magnificent beast.
As hazel brown eyes met violet ones a bunch of questions raced through her head. Was this what her visions had lead her to? Did this wolf see her materialize out of the darkness a minute ago? Could he also be a social outcast forced to be part of a pack he was born into? Whatever his reason for being in her cave, one thing was for certain, Eires had never seen a Lycan radiating so much power before, not even her father who was her Alpha.
Eires didn't know how long she stood there just staring at the other Wolf, but she eventually got up her courage to get a closer look. Though she knew that some weaker wolves would feel threatened and attack an unknown stranger for encroaching on their territory, but somehow she knew that she was safe with this one.
Feeling electric pulses running up and down her spine as soon as she made contact with soft lucious fur, Eiry looked up at the wolf to see whether he felt that too. The wolf didn't even so much as blink, Eires felt disappointment at not getting any reaction from the wolf. Or so she thought, because within seconds of retracting her hands off the wolf did she find herself pinned down onto the ground his teeth dangerously close to her neck.
