Thana looked at him and explained patiently.
"You remind me of an old friend."
Her statement left a bad taste in Noah's mouth. It was like she was saying he was someone's replacement just a substitute and he didn't like it.
"I remind you of an old friend and you decided to just admit everything?" Said Noah with an undisguised sarcasm and a little annoyance.
Thana couldn't help but be amused at his words and looked at him with her piercing and beautiful blue eyes as if saying 'you can't hide from me' or 'I see right through you.
"No, I didn't admit it because you remind me of an old friend. I just decided to interact with you more and answer your questions because you look like him. I must admit, be it your looks or a character, it's as if he is standing right in front of me."
"I am not him." Noah managed to voice out his thoughts through gritted teeth.
"I know that. Like I said you are like him, but no one can be him. He was Too special."
Noah couldn't help feeling more annoyed the more they talked about that mysterious person, so he decided to change the subject.
"You said you would answer my questions, so tell me, why did you kill Miss fletcher?"
"You sure are impatient aren't you? Unfortunately, that's not how this works." Said Thana.
"Don't play with me." Glared Noah.
"hehe." Giggled Thana mischievously. "How about this, I will ask one question and if you answer it truthfully you can ask me a question and I will answer it."
"How do I know you will tell me the truth?"
"Aren't you supposed to be a detective?" Asked back Thana, with provocation.
So, Noah couldn't help but nod his head.
"You studied in Creighton Boarding School, the one Anna taught in. You must know the legend about the primordial gods and the god slayer. So, tell me what do you think happened to the slayer?"
Thana's question was unexpected to everyone in the room, even her brother couldn't help but look puzzled, but this didn't bother Thana one bit.
"Who knows, maybe the god slayer died with injuries after fighting the primordial gods." Said Noah.
"I told you, detective, I will only answer your questions if you answer me truthfully, but you just lied, so I will give you one more chance."
Noah stopped all his actions for a bit as he observed Thana and finally spoke.
"I don't know what happened to the god slayer, but one thing is known that she managed to kill all the primordial gods. As someone who was able to destroy all the first beings in the universe I don't think she would just roll over and die and I don't think her reason for the murder was as banal as the fight for power.
It's a mystery and will probably stay like that forever, which is a little frustrating and one couldn't help but think about various ridiculous developments, but no matter what story you hear it all seems farther and farther away from the truth as if mocking our stupidity."
Hearing his answer, Thana's lips curled up a bit and she went back to looking out the window, waiting for Noah to ask his questions.
"You killed Miss Fletcher because she gave you 'candies' all these years. Her visits were consistent. Until a few months ago you were still mentally challenged, but then an accident happened and for some reason, you were unable to eat her 'candies' on time, so your sanity came back and you realized what she was doing.
The Vampire's amazing healing abilities kept your mind from being damaged so she needed to 'recharge' you once in a while. but once the process was interrupted you recovered enough to realize everything and get ready, you fooled everyone for a few months and when the time was right you sent your nurse and guard away and killed Miss Fletcher by feeding her the 'candies' she had been feeding you all this time, but as she was a human she was unable to handle its effects and thus she exploded.
Now, my question is, am I right?"
At this moment everyone's attention was drawn towards Thana as they all waited for her answer.
"Generally speaking you could say that your statement is correct. of course, a few minor details but everything you said about Anna is correct." Answered Thana.
"What details?"
"It's my turn now." Stated Thana and without waiting for his answer asked her question.
"Why do you think primordial gods and goddesses who were stronger beings in all the universe needed to create someone like the god slayer, someone who was able to destroy them?" Asked Thana.
"Maybe they knew that there was something they couldn't handle so the primordials created someone who could. Maybe they created a god slayer even though they knew the slayer could destroy them because that was the whole reason for its existence. maybe god slayer was supposed to kill them."
His answer brought a smile to Thana's face and confusion and surprise to his colleagues while the royals did not react. They were intelligent enough to think about this themselves, and some before them also had such thoughts, but it was never publicly spoken of.
They were a powerhouse but no one, not even gods dared to speak of primordials and god slayer's thoughts. These figures were too tall and unattainable, too mysterious.
"You are very smart." Said Thana. "So, what's your question?"
"Why did you choose this way of dealing with Miss Fletcher? With your status and what she's done you could have done things more cleanly."
"It was just too bothersome to spare more thought for a person like her, moreover if I'd dealt with her cleanly things would have been too boring and we wouldn't have met." Said Thana.
"You knew I was going to be on the case didn't you?"
"Who else was going to put them in charge when the only vampire princess and a teacher from Creighton are involved?" Asked Thana back.
"Anyway, I think questions are enough for the day. I am a little tired.
Instead, I will give you a little gift for all your troubles."
"A gift?"
"Hmm." And once again a mischievous smile appeared on Thana's face
