Chapter 12

We spread out on both sides of Elizabeth and begin to confront the approaching demons.

"Do not stop, continue, we will delay them as long as we can!" Elizabeth shouts to the others.

One of her friends responds very worried, "But Eli, there are too many for the three of you, just let us help you!"

Elizabeth responds angrily and unable to look back because she is busy fighting the enemy, "No, I will not allow anyone else to die! You are not ready to face these things yet! Get out of here and you're really going to help me!"

After a while, even stronger enemies begin to arrive, such as one in the shape of a spider that manages to hit Elizabeth and throw her against the ground, leaving her extremely sore. And when her aggressor is about to finish her off with one of her arms like spears, I intercept it with my sword as I go to her position with the speed of a lightning.

Without stopping, I decapitate him to later cut the legs of a hound the size of a car that comes from behind her, which I finish just after mutilating his tail too, piercing his head from above.

I immediately go to where the girl is to help her get up by means of my shoulders, asking her very concerned, "Are you OK? Didn't you break anything?"

She answers as she touches herself with a pained expression on her left arm, "I think I broke my arm."

"Don't worry, when we get out of this place, they'll heal that wound."

After I look back scared, we can no longer deal with all the approaching enemies.

Alfred yells at me as he gasps from exhaustion and continues to repel all kinds of enemies, "Iran it's time to go! If we stay here we are all going to die!"

"You're right, let's go!"

We return as soon as possible with the others and we are practically at the limit, full of sweat and pain in the muscles of our legs from the extreme fatigue.

That is when our souls are filled with joy when we see some large pillars forming a circle with the same diagrams that we always see before they teleport us engraved on the ground.

Alfred communicates to the group very happy to see what appears to be the end, "Look guys there it is!" He points the ax at it.

We are almost at the end of the road and you can hear the shouts of celebration from all but suddenly a great tremor occurs that forces us to stop,"What's going on?! Now what will it be ?! Shit I knew it was too easy!" We say to each other.

A few meters in front of us, the earth cracks and begins to rise until it reaches a considerable height and just at the top appears a spiny creature like the one from before that as soon as it sees us under it, it starts firing its bone spears.

At that moment we heard the already ominous voice of the Administrator, "I'm afraid they still need a little more boys!" His mocking laugh is heard.

So it will continue until at least two more make it.

Alfred speaks through clenched teeth in fury that consumes him, "So these are the surprises that Luther told us about."

Another damn requirement to complete the test with an extra challenge to achieve it. No one is going to get out of this damn place at this rate.

We take refuge behind the great columns and rock overhangs to draw up a plan.

A young man proposes, "We have to end that thing if we want to be able to get up there. We can use our bows and crossbows our arrows to keep him at bay from down here while the others climb."

Alfred responds without hesitation when he sees the feasibility of the suggestion, "Good idea boy, let's do it. But adding that they have to stay at least the same amount as you with close-range weapons to protect them from the other monsters that come from behind.

I am going to go up with Elizabeth who is injured and she will not be able to go up if she is not with my help."

So I intervene very decisively, "I'll stay here to defend them."

Then others volunteer to the point that we have to decide quickly just by reaching the number according to those of projectile weapons that are 10 and making a total of 20, the remaining 15 begin to climb the wall at the same time the others provide supportive fire preventing the thorny demon from approaching the edge.

In an unexpected way, a girl turns around to fire her crossbow at a gorilla-shaped demon that has neither a head nor a neck, just a large circular mouth full of sharp, curved teeth as well as huge claws in its three-way hands fingers, she sends him a shower of arrows that glow when thrown and split into several during their journey through the air.

The young woman with long brown hair, with a slim body as well as a outlined face with clear eyes, is very excited to have discovered her ability, but she only limits herself to saying with an astonished expression, "Surprising!"

Although the creature suffers from the dozens of arrows that incessantly penetrate hir skin, it remains persistent and manages to throw its spears at two of our companions, managing to kill one immediately and the other after being knocked down and killing the fall.

Alfred manages to reach the elevated position and immediately attacks our harasser.

When the monster sees him, he retreats a little back, out of the range of the arrows, and begins to shoot at the ex-soldier who is approaching him at full speed. Huge thorns rains on Alfred but fail to hit him, since he rolls from one side to the other avoiding the attacks at the same time that he keeps advancing.

He finally manages to get close enough to then jump to the side, escaping from being crushed, cutting half his calf from the side, knocking down the vile demon.

Alfred takes a great leap and just when he is about to finish him off, the creature performs one last strategy by shrinking his body so that all the thorns on his skin are thrown out in all directions.

The puzzled man mutters at this unfortunate surprise, "This is my end."
