Chapter 13

David is wild.

I am currently sitting on the couch of his house drinking an oreo milkshake.

He dragged me here when it started drizzling again and according to him school was closed today.

Why is that when I come to his house I am in my school uniform? This needs to stop.

"Come on man, just for today." He yelled to the person who was on the other side of the line.

He was planning his party... he hired a mechanical bull and a bouncy house and right now he is talking to Jayden about hiring a water slide.

As I said. David is wild.

I can not even believe that Jayden allowed the bull in the first place. I now understand why he does not like David's party's.

"But the clown can still come right?" He asked Jayden. "Yesss!" He fist pumped the air.

There is a clown coming. I think this party is going to be a mess.

A giant mess.

"Okay. Talk to you later bro." Then he hung up.

"I think I should go home right now." I said putting my half empty milkshake on the coffee table. "You know what does not make sense here David." I continued. "Why did the bus come if school is closed for the day ,huh?" I finished crossing my arms over me chest.

"Well... school." He mumbled. "Which school are we talking about?" He asked smiling.

What the hack is is trying to do here.

He is acting stupid that's what.

"David, do you know what my mother will do if she finds out that I did not go to school today?"

"Yell at you maybe but do not worry you will survive her rage." He said nodding slightly. I roll my eyes at his words.

What an idiot.

"Look. I got to go before first period ends." I say grabbing my bag and slinging it over my shoulder. Before I left though I grabbed my milkshake and walked towards the front door.

The door swinged open because I could reach for the door handle.

"Oh..." Jayden said walking in and shutting the door behind him. He observed me for a while then cleared his throat. "Ditching school?" He asked.

"Nah. That dummy over there made me miss my rude there and lied about school being closed for the day." I replied, sipping on the milkshake through the straw.

Jayden sighed before glancing at David, who was sorting through a playlist on Spotify. "David can be a pain in the ass sometimes." He said.

"I'll say." I commented.

"Well, I am just hoping that you were not about to walk out with my glass." He said knowingly.

I looked at the glass in my hand then at him.

Damn.

I did not even realize that I was holding a glass, form his kitchen.

"Sorry." I said softly. I glance at the time on my phone which was resting on my bandaged hand.

'8:38 am' It read.

Well u can not just show up more than an hour late to school. I should just skip.

"Well, I am not even surprised." He says smirking. "You disappeared this morning." He finished.

"I thought that you let her out." David commented from the couch. I flinched at that. I'm busted.

"Did I?" David whispered so only I could hear and I shook my head no."You are becoming better." He said this last part to himself though, and I think that I was not meant to hear it.

"At what?" I asked.

"What?" He said looking straight into my eyes.

"You said that I was getting better. Better at what?" I asked him pointedly.

"Nothing." He responded simply then walked towards the kitchen.

I walked back to the couch and set next to David. He is on a call again. Within all the time I have been in here David was talking to someone on his phone. I feel invisible. I like it.

Now I just have to find some kind of remote so I can at least watch a decent show.

"I know my loves. Here me out, I think it would be best if we do not were matching outfits." David said loudly.

I continued scanning the couch for the remote and I do not see it, next I glance at the table infront of me and there it was in all it's glory.

"I made you another milkshake and a sandwich." Jayden said placing one tray infront of me and the other one on his lap as he sat down.

"Where are my food?" David asked looking at the food on Jayden's lap which consisted of some chips and half a sandwich. He has placed his phone on his shoulder trying to block the speakers.

Jayden just shrugged at him then resumed eating. I on the other hand was not hungry but I did not want to seem rude so I ate the food quietly.

"Are you staying for the party?" I asked Jayden.

"No. I will be heading out." He looks up at me for a few seconds. "Do you wanna join?" He asked.

"I could but what I an wearing is not fit for either a party or an outing." I said gesturing to my uniform.

"Well you could just sneak into your house if your mother is still home." He suggested.

Yeah I could definitely do that. I am pretty sure my mother is not home right now though so it would be a lot easier going inside the house.

I finish the milkshake Jayden gave to me and stood up with my bag still on my shoulders.

"Where are you going?" Jayden and David asked.

"To my house." I said simply. I walk straight out of the door without any other word said.

When I reached my front door I grab my keys from my pocket and unlock the door. I unlocked it slowly and opened the door. My mother's car is still in the driveway and what I am doing I risky.

I took off my shoes and my feet felt a little chilly even though I am wearing socks. I take cautious steps into the house glancing into the living room to see if she was in there, thankfully she was not.

I start walking until I reach the Kitchen opening and there sitting on a bar stool was my mother, sipping something from a mug. Luckily though she was facing the other way. I quickly but quietly ran to the hallway that leads to my room. The door is wide open when I see it and I realise a breath of relief because this door was the loudest door I have ever touched.

I know exactly what I am going to wear.

I rush to my box to pull out the silky black dress and my new Adidas sneakers. All I need now are silk stalkings and a leather jacket.

Once I was done with my outfit I had to do my hair so I just took out some strands so that they could shape my face and then I put the rest into a neat as possible bun. The finishing touch was some eyeliner cat eyes and lip gloss.

I am ready. This time though I do not leave using the front door, I use the window since my room is on the ground floor.

When I was outside I quickly walked to Jayden's house and entered without knocking.

"Do you think she is ready for this though? I think it is still too soon." David said to Jayden.

They were sitting on the couch where I left them, they still have not noticed my presence so I just stood against the wall and listened in on their conversation.

"We have been with her for 6 months now, well not exactly because we have not been communicating with her till now."Jayden said scratching the back of his neck.

"Look. We will get the green light when it is time. For now let us not bother her.' David said.

"Who are you talking about?" I finally asked. My question made the two boys jump in their seats slightly.

"Hey. You are back." David said turning to look at me.

"Wow." That came from Jayden then he cleared his throat and glanced away from me when I looked his way.

"Well?" I asked jokingly.

"We were talking about a girl Jayden likes." David said smugly and Jayden punched his arm for saying those words. "Correction, loves." David continued with a chuckle.

"Not funny." Jayden said with frustration to David.

David's answer leaves me with a curious feeling though. Who is this girl?

I feel like he knows something I don't. And the last time I got this feeling things did not end well.

I hope things turn out good this time though because if they do not, the universe will be my enemy.

"Well are you staying for the party or are you coming with me?"Jayden asked standing up. David gave him a warning look. "Relax bro. She'll be back before it ends." He said and David just rolled his eyes.

"I'll go with you." I responded without thinking.
