Chapter 27—Arranged Marriage

He loves his mother but he gradually blames himself to trust her much. He thought that his mom do everything just to make him happy, helping him to have a successful career and retain his good name, but what she had done made him realize that she used him for her selfish aim.

The position he had wasn't his true seat. He wasn't a Gritson, he was not even an illegitimate child of Wilson Gritson. The seat he possessed was not the seat he deserved. He gained the position through his mother's wicked and unscrupulous intent.

He desperately facepalms through his frustration. What will he do now? He did everything for his mother's happiness but why did she return a mess like this? He was hurt so much by what she had done for him to break Lilian's, innocent heart.

His cellphone was ringing. He turned his gaze to it. His father calls him. He shortly answered the call.

[ Hello, son. After your work, go straight to the mansion. I set a family dinner,] his father gladly answered. He lightly showed his smile.

" Ok. I'll be home early," he replied.

[ By the way, Victoria just came home with her parents. This is a good dinner meeting because your mom told me that your wedding will proceed ] he continued. He could barely keep his mouth shut at what he told.

His mother preceded again. His jaw tightened and gripping the cellphone firmly.

[ You have really moved on about Lilian. I can't also do something about it, because it looks like you decided to tie the knot again with another woman,] he added.

" W-Well, I need to talk to mom first. Actually, she misunderstood what I said last week," he explained.

[ Looks like you really need to talk. And I have no problem with you getting married again. Lutos and Rose also need a new mum, and I think Victoria could be fit to be their new mom,] his father gladly answered.

" Dad, Santi is my present girlfriend. When she finds out that I'm going to marry Victoria, I'm sure she'll rush to come here. Santi is not the type of woman who will be ready to accept rejection. She prepared to struggle against who women dares to go with me. She's tough and willing to do risky things just to take me down. It's not just my name that will be ruined, maybe even Victoria's reputation," he replied.

[ There is nothing wrong with marrying Santi but Nelson Bache is my friend. He wants you to marry his daughter Victoria,] he replied. He let out a deep sigh.

" I'll talk to you later dad. I have a lot to tell you. I'm sorry and we'll just end up talking here first because I still have work to finish," he said goodbye to his father before dropping the phone.

Nelson Bache is a popular business tycoon. Half brother of Aduke Mondragon. He's also a mafia don like his brother Aduke. Victoria was a biological child of Aduke but foster couple Nelson and Helen Bache make her their only heir.

But, people knew that Aduke is childless. One of those people who believed that he was childless was him. Even Victoria doesn't know that her biological father who abandoned her was the man behind his foster parents' success.

Fame and wealth that Victoria will inherit, that's how desperate her mother wants him is to marry Victoria. His mother was very insatiable of riches.

He traveled home early but before that, he first told his driver to go through the flower shop. He will buy two bouquets. He will simply deliver the one for Lilian. Lilian loves flowers so she loved to plant flowering plants when they were married.

He will give another bouquet to Victoria to greet her with a ‘ Welcome to the Philippines’. He was a big disappointment to the Bache family when he refused to marry her but it was difficult for him to speed up his divorce towards Lilian because he felt pity for her.

Bache's family knows that he was secretly married to a commoner but Victoria requested that she will accept it. Victoria knew that he didn't love his wife in the first place. Even she knew that he was desperately in love with Yvette, she foolishly wanted the arranged marriage.

He couldn't understand why Victoria was so desperate to marry him. When he asks her why she is so considerate of her own parents' wishes, only a smile and figurative words come out of her mouth.

In terms of Victoria's background, she's so private that's why most of her fans called her an enigmatic Princess.

She kinda boring, honestly!

When he got home, the maid immediately went to greet him. He greeted Victoria's parents. There was a lot of chatter and conversation before he thought to ask where Victoria was. He did not see her inside the mansion.

" She's with Lucis, she went in the garden, honey. She said she wanted to see the expensive exotic plants I bought from other countries," her mother replied.

He nodded and have excused. He carried the bouquet he bought and went to the fresh and lush garden of the mansion where his mother's expensive plants place.

He caught Lucis and Victoria talking. He was suddenly stunned when he heard Lilian's name.

" What if he loves Lilian?" Lucis asked her.

" I've known that for a long time. I don't care about that woman. All I want is to marry William," Victoria replied seriously.

" I don't understand, Victoria. What is the real reason why you want to marry him? Do you love him?" Lucis questioned remarkably.

William also wanted to hear the reason why.

" I've never been fallen in love, Lucis. William is not my type. Should I say, because I just want to follow my parents' wishes?"

" Is that all?" He intrigued. She lightly smiled.

" Why do you seem so interested in my intention, Lucis? You know our lives. We have to follow what everyone is used to. Arranged marriage is an unstopped cycle in the business industry. I will marry him because of legacy, that's all ", she replied.

Victoria noticed him behind. His friend Lucis also turned to where he was.

" Hi, honey! Is that for me?" She sweetly asked and approached him. She kissed him on his cheek. He gave the bouquet and she immediately accepted it.

" You're no different from my mother's character. You moreover care about heredity," he said bluntly to the woman.

She neatly touches his tie while dire meeting his eyes.

" We're different, William, far from similarities. I am just doing my duty as an heir while your mother is greedy for wealth and money to please herself. We have very different preferences, attitudes, and characters so don't compare me to your toxic mother, ” she heavily corrected.

For William, there was no difference. They're both just the same because they're both don’t care how other people feel.

She looked at Lucis. He could read the pain in his eyes because the only woman he dreamed of would come and will marry him soon.

Damn, this arranged marriage!
