Prelude to the War

"Fufufufu~Izumi-kun. I even got tricked into your words." Tio waved her hand and sat on his lap after tasting his lips.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

"Oh, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about." Tio retorted with a sweet smile on her face, then added, "I'm sure even Grayfia-chan and Shizuku-chan agree with me, right?"

Grayfia nodded with a small smile even though it was for a second, as she went to do her job.

Shizuku was confused about what Tio was saying and she had got used to Tio's way of calling her.

Anyone in her place might be a little angry but she knew who she was and also knew that she had recognised her.

However, Shizuku was a little shy to show it on her face.

She quickly put those thoughts out and asked, "Klarus-san, I didn't understand anything."

"Of course you won't." Tio laughed weirdly then explained, "And him calling Remia-chan was also intentional. You think he doesn't know what kind of person she is? He knew she would agree and definitely forgive that girl. If he had agreed outright then it'd be wrong considering his current status and people will be suspicious of him. Thinking he is with the Demons. So he had to find a purpose to enter the Kingdom legally and Remia-chan fulfil that excuse, though it was a coincidence that he got the information.

For example, if he kills some annoying priest from Holy Churches, or royalty then he won't be held accountable, the kingdom or demons will be judged because according to them he's their savior. Of course, with his strength he could do that easily, but that won't buy people's hearts. After all, our mission is to kill a certain fraudster and how you kill him without revealing everything he did, to the citizen of Tortus. Since he's making things difficult then don't blame us for being ruthless." Tio's eyes glowed when she thought about it then she returned to her cheerful persona.

Only Izumi sighed secretly as her thirst for revenge still hadn't diminished.

Also what Tio said was true. Firstly, he wanted to kill that God as soon as possible but later he realised that Ehito was simply a toad that couldn't survive outside the water and he was also making things difficult for him, so he had made up his mind to cut off his fifth leg.

Oh yeah, the faith of the people.

He was getting stronger in his spirit form because of these and what he'd do if he won't get that anymore.

It's simple.

He'll die within a few years because faith was the only thing that kept his soul here.

And the main factor was that he won't be able to get stronger but weaker, even though he possesses the strongest body.

Why would he waste a chance to kill those annoying cultists openly? And there is the one that made him Heretics even though he was ready but who'd be satisfied with it?

"So, Izumi-chan was delaying things purposely and haven't you noticed some are missing among us?" Tio smiled as she knew her plan worked.

Shizuku was confused for a while then it hit her. She widened her eyes when she thought of her two best friends and a certain loli vampire were missing.

If it was that important then everyone should have presented there.

Shizuku just looked at Izumi who had an innocent smile and her back was cold.

Even she who saw through many things and was known as a tactician along with another girl was unknowingly led into a trap.

If he was their enemy then she would bet her life that they all would die without knowing.

"Don't be surprised. His IQ is far above mine and he's still improving." Tio calmed down Shizuku who was sweating and she also knew her beloved was still growing as time passed.

She first found out about this during their lovemaking.

She understands very well that her man was definitely someone great.

"Then, where are Kaori and others?" Shizuku questioned.

"They're already inside the Kingdom, planning to rescue their Sensei." It was Grayfia who answered as she arrived with a few small bottles and put them in front of Izumi.

"Tio-chan~, are you trying to make me forget something?" Izumi's sudden question froze Tio and Grayfia was stiffened for a moment.

"W..what are you saying, Izumi?" She stuttered and immediately fired off from his lap.

"I'm sure you know. And I've etched it in my mind, so don't try anything funny...heheh."

This really scared Tio and she looked at Grayfia who had the same expression as her.

Damn! How can I, a dignified Dragonmen princess get scared of something like this.

How come my plan was seen through?

It's impossible that I, was overwhelmed by someone in Intelligence even though that person is beloved.

Tio was cursing in her heart and was unable to accept the fact.

How funny!

Just ago, she said Izumi was the most intelligent among their group(maybe the world) and now she was unable to accept it after getting caught in her act.

She turned around in her own words, lol.

Yeah, she was pleasing him by praising.

But what she said was also a fact.

Unfortunately, Shizuku was there if not she wouldn't have been able to walk, more less boasting.

Anyways, the dog food was also too much for a single hearted girl like Shizuku, so let's skip this one.

Where was Remia?

Well, she went to her room with Myu who was feeling drowsy.

Not before getting a goodnight kiss from her Papa, of course.

_________

One Hour later...

Liliana's body was trembling from what she was witnessing.

The kingdom's capital had fallen into chaos after the sudden attack which broke the barrier and appearance of the Demon race.

As people started running out of their houses, they wore stunned faces as they were greeted to the great barrier shattering. To such a site, the patrol groups could only angrily shout, "Don't leave your houses!" The ones with quick thinking quickly pulled themselves together. They attempted to leave the capital with only the bare minimum luggage.

Meanwhile, a significant number of people gathered at the royal palace gates to seek shelter!

Screams were heard.

There are three huge magic barriers that defend the Kingdom from foreign enemies. An artifact generates the barrier into three points, magicians of the imperial court pour their magic powers into it regularly in order to sustain the barriers. Its strength has been proven many times, the Kingdom has been defended from the Majinzoku's(Demon) invasion for hundreds of years. This was one of the reasons why the war was still at a state of standstill.

A barrier of absolute protection was broken down in a single moment. And, just now, the second barrier was also close to breaking.

The closer the barriers are to the Kingdom, the stronger they become, but if the second barrier was about to break at any moment now, it's only a matter of time before the last one falls as well. The royal palace is getting noisy, it appears they've noticed that the barrier was broken. Lights begin to flicker at many places.

"Sir, About one kilometer south from the Kingdom's capital, there is a group of Majinzoku leading a large army of demons. The white dragon from that time is also with them. Its breath was what had destroyed the barrier. However, I don't see their leader's figure."

"I understand, you can leave and thank you for your work."

He already knew but still thanked others for help.

"No, no. Sir.. This is what I should do. You are our race benefactor and we are always at your disposal."

"Hahah.. You've changed Cam. Okay, now you go with others and remember to be cautious. I don't want any casualties." Izumi warned Cam, his Father-in-law, through the device he had created.

"Yes Sir! We'll." An excited voice came through when Izumi hung up the call.

"Anyway, I think you all have heard what he said, right?" Izumi finally put away his magical device and looked at Liliana.

"It can't be, an inside job? ...But, giving a hand….to the enemy forces? Just what is going on…." Liliana wasn't a fool either and immediately understood after watching barriers malfunction.

Looks like someone was cooperating with the enemy and was giving away all the information because it was too much to become a coincidence.

Meld was seething in anger....After all this was the kingdom he had fought for all his life and now someone is eating from inside out.

How can it not make him angry?

His aura was making the weebs little scary.

"Who?! Who is so daring?" A huge roar comes from Meld.

"Fufufu~ Of course, they should be your so-called disciples. After all, one of them was killed by Izumi-san after he had been poached by demons.

So how can we not rule out this possibility that others won't have his path?" Tio covered half of her eyes while looking at the weeb heroes.

Meld's face became more hideous as he looked at his cowardly disciples.

She knew what demons were doing was taking advantage of Humanity weakness.

Greed, lust, power, etc.

Every living creatures has these but humans are always in the top existence despite being the lowest in the food chain.

Suddenly, a person appeared behind Izumi, making some weebs alert.

Izumi shook his head when he saw this.

These trashes are too cowardly and he was not the only one who was thinking like this.

"Izumi-sama, they've rescued the target and everything is in place. What's your order?"

It was Grayfia who appeared and passed another good news. She now can teleport without using a magic circle, for short distance.

Remember, none of them knew about Izumi already mastered teleporting except Tio.

Also, Izumi was recognised as an undisputed leader of their group and even Hajime aggred to it.

"What does this mean?" Ryutarou Sakagami questioned as he was feeling left out and grabbed his chance for sense of existence.

"It's none of your business. Just know that the kingdom is almost saved." Izumi frowned and coldy replied.

He had no good feelings for this group and the more they kept quiet, the better.

However, this one had a ball to brush his presence.

Ryutarou shrank his neck from the cold glare. He knew it was not his usual party expedition where he would shout whatever he wanted and get out shots free.

"Now let's go inside. Remember your promise, Princess Liliana." Izumi and co, walked through the barrier eventually passing the last line of defence.

Liliana, who was reminded by Izumi didn't have too many emotional fluctuations on her face.

She was shown the truth of this world and understood that they were being misled and were kept in the dark about this.

As for, what she had promised?

It's nothing perverted that you're imagining.

She just gave him a free licence to kill the religious organization in their kingdom.

If this would be the price to save the kingdom, why not? They should gladly sacrifice their lives, no?

Because they're the one who had been preaching and brainwashing about sacrifices.

And she learnt this from them.

Naturally, You can't blame her.
