Grandmothers intuition

The smoke began clearing up and then the group began to emerge upon reaching near the top of the hill.

The blood sect leader noticed the ten masked men wielding long ranged weapons suited for piercing and sneered. "Keep steady and continue to climb up. Dodge their spears and try to gain the high ground and get close enough to attack them. The moment that you back away from the spear attacks you will be pushed back down the hill so close the distance. We still outnumber them."

There was still 20 or so among the group which still outnumbered the group on the top of the hill, many among them had been wounded by arrows or survived splurging the assassinations inside the smoke.

The group began to rush forward with more enthusiasm after hearing the words of the blood sect leader, many of the villagers however had eyes filled with fear.

Less than half of them belonged to the blood sect group but the strength that they displayed and their ability to be quick to kill helped to subdue the group of villagers and make them rush forwards despite their fear of death in front of them.

At the top of the wall, Agnes appeared next to Isaac and asked. "What is the situation?"

Isaac turned revealing a look of surprise on his face. "What are you doing up here? Shouldn't you be with your son, daughter and grandson in a safe place within the mansion? You were safer under the protection your granddaughter provided."

Agnes shrugged her shoulders and looked serious upon answering. "It doesn't matter where I am or what happens so long as we win I can feel safe. I feel more at ease knowing what is happening."

Isaac nodded upon hearing her explanation and then began to overlook the battlefield. "The expected numbers have survived up until this stage. As for others they have either escaped or have been subdued."

"What about little Ki? Where is she?" Agnes looked around but did not spot her.

Isaac sighed and then pointed towards the outside of the wall. "She went to make sure that everything is successful. The smoke has begun to clear up now."

Agnes looked down upon the battlefield and saw many bodies lying down on the hill, some were dead and others were in a state of heavy sleep.

She then looked towards her granddaughter with a look of worry and clenched her hands on her clothes.

A couple of figures could be seen beyond the smoke running down the hill towards the gate to exit the Bombyx families land.

Isaac pointed towards the scattered bodies and the fleeing villagers and explained. "The blood sects martial artists are known for their healing abilities and their high vitality. In order to subdue many of them we needed to use a potent and slow acting poison which can put them to sleep. They would ignore the arrows mostly because of their improved healing so their arrogance and confidence in their abilities would allow them to be hit by the arrows while avoiding fatal wounds. We used that to allow the volley of arrows to significantly reduce their numbers and subdue the rest. The smoke and assassinations also helped to reduce their numbers."

Isaac pointed towards the remaining villagers who also ran out of the smoke and headed towards the bottom of the hill. "The slaves were set up as spies within the village and they mixed in with the enemy group. Their task was to avoid the arrows by using the villagers as shields and wait until the smoke appeared to kill one or two people each before leaving."

He then pointed towards the gate at the bottom of the hill. "Any fleeing villagers will be stopped at the gates by the team placed there who were camped outside of the village. Either they will die if they resist capture or they will have no choice but to give themselves up."

Isaac then pointed towards the top of the hill just outside of the wall he and Agnes stood on. "There is the final stage of the battle which will take place. Once this is over then everything will be solved and everyone will be safe once more."

The archers lined up on the walls nearby and aimed downwards past the group of spear bearers towards the remaining invaders.

Isaac looked towards them and ordered upon seeing them within range. "Take aim, ready… and fire!"

Agnes looked towards her granddaughter below with a worried look in her eyes but then became determined. "Since she is so determined I have no choice but to trust in her. I need to watch over everything to know how far she has come and how much I can entrust her with her other future plans. You can call me crazy for allowing this… but ever since her seventh birthday she has been working hard in order to accomplish something and I believe that everything has come together just for this very moment. I don't know why I feel this but I guess it is my intuition towards my granddaughter so I need to see this through and witness it rather than hiding away within the mansion."

Isaac shook his head and sighed. "Your granddaughter is so mysterious and has great foresight. Even this small event which may seem to be a big threat may even be a small part of the bigger goal in her eyes but I do agree with you somewhat about this war being an important part for her growth."

Agnes nodded and continued to watch on.

The arrows fell in front of the spear bearers which hit the villagers who were in front and then suddenly Ki gave the order. "Aim and thrust!"

The group of ten spear bearers aimed their spears forwards towards the group up front who were hit by the arrows and stopped moving forward.

Many spears aimed for the throats of the villagers or towards their chests.

A chance to strike was created by the arrows, their first attacks successfully landed dealing death blows on around 5 of them while the others were pushed backwards making them fall back and push the people behind them back down the hill a little.
