End of the festival

Since the crisis had been averted and the young master had left, Ki turned to Leon and Evie and spoke softly. "Well done Evie, you handled the situation right this time and chose what to do in response to their actions to best put everyone in a better position to respond."

Evie looked up from Naara who she had been watching vigilantly and keeping calm during the conflict and had a small blush on her face after hearing the praise. "Thanks you master!"

Ki shook her head and said. "Since you had responded so quickly, I was able to be at more ease and focus on their men instead of keeping Naara from being scared so it helped a lot. Leon… thank you for your care and your intentions to defend me."

Leon blushed. "No problem sister."

The tone of her voice suddenly became more strict. "However.. it was wrong of you to lose control of yourself in that moment. If you broke away from us all in that moment because of your anger and a moment of poor judgement then you would have left your little sister undefended. You are a noble so in front of others you must appear to be unmoved by such things even if they are offensive so that you do not show weakness to your enemies. If your enemies catch that you have a short temper when certain things are said then they may use this in the future to manipulate you into causing a scene to bring shame upon you and the family."

Leon lowered his head in shame. "I'm sorry sister but I just did not like the way he was looking at you. It was as if he was looking at an object and it was so disgusting. I could not control myself."

Ki shook her head in response. "I know you meant well.. but in times like this you need to remain as rational as possible so that we do not reveal any weaknesses to our enemy but also respond in a way that we can best protect ourselves and those that are with us. Next time focus on making sure there aren't any unexpected attacks and make sure everyone feels safe."

Leon looked up with a thoughtful look and said. "I will remember."

Ki smiled as she placed her hand on his head. "Good, let's enjoy the rest of the festival."

As she was walking a small smile appeared on her face, although her brother was being a little rash in his actions it did not mean that his actions did not touch her heart a little.

It had been a long time since she felt this kind of strong familial protection that was aimed towards herself.

She had become so used to being the protector or the avenger that she had forgotten this feeling of warmth in her heart.

However a second later, her expression turned frosty. 'Some people are really daring..'

She signalled someone to approach her as she was walking and one of the guards that were nearby came close to her.

She said in a low voice. "Make sure that no accidents happen in the dark within the city during this time. Send word to the law department to keep a watchful eye over the festival and increase the security. After that you can pass on a message to Nox to watch the underground's movements."

This event could be seen as a wake up call for her, although it was peaceful on the surface it did not mean that nothing could go wrong.

Whether it be the arrogance of the nobility that made them act against others, the greed of some criminals who wished to harm others for their own profit or outsiders hidden intentions, there needed to be proper safety measures put in place to avoid people going missing or becoming hurt during this busy time where the streets are full and crowded with people.

If the security was stricter and the underworld was closely controlled and watched then very few incidents would be able to be cause the people any harm.

It would also let various visitors that in this city, they can not act as they please like they have in their own territory.

The young master was not only rude towards her but also had intentions to capture and remove her from the festivities to satisfy his own lust.

If it had been any other time and it had been in a quiet location then she would not have let him off with a warning.

It was lucky for him that his guard had noticed the surroundings change and responded fast enough before her people subdued them all.

How could a couple of guards of a noble family that had probably not seen war and were used to picking on those weaker than themselves possibly stand up to those that she had brought with her?

During the past couple of years, many people have experienced real life and death against the invading northerners who had been attacking her village, Wolfden city but also the other two nearby cities.

Whether it was the city guards, law department or Ki's own private army that she had raised, they had all seen blood on the battlefield or handled several attacks from within the city by someone who had infiltrated while posing as a traveller or merchant so they were far more intimidating than the young masters guards.

After the person left, she closed her eyes in thought. 'If I am not wrong.. then I should remember his face from somewhere but who was it again. Oh well, I am sure that I will get the chance to get some payback later.'

She felt that the young master that she had a conflict looked a little familiar, as if she had seen his portrait or the portrait of someone related to him recently but she could not remember who it was exactly.

She shook her head and decided to leave it for another time and enjoy the remaining time that she had during the festival.

The stalls were beginning to show signs of closing up as they were in low supplies of materials and goods but they still remained to watch the end of the festival.

While some people had left early to go back to their family or friends, there was still many that still remained until late.

Ki and everyone were enjoying the atmosphere and then the ending was approaching.

Several small fireworks exploded in the sky lighting up the dark sky and the city below that was crowded with many people.

Some more fireworks flew up and exploded creating even more of a loud sound and bright light in the sky for a short moment until they finally stopped signalling the end of the festival.

During the next hour, the city guards would look over everything and make sure that nobody remains on the streets afterwards and so that everyone returns to their homes safely.

This was to ensure that everyone goes home at an appropriate time but also so that she city does not remain crowded and at risk of having anything go wrong as it becomes darker.

The stalls and streets also needed to be properly handled so that the next day, the market and other businesses would be able to get set up and run without any problems.

Just as the fireworks were going off, Ki and the others had already reached the outer parts of the city and began to walk towards the carriage.

They stayed to watch the fireworks before entering the carriage and returning home for the night but the moment they had stepped inside, Naara had very quickly went to sleep as she was tired out from all of the excitement.

Ki placed Naara's head on her lap as she sat within the carriage and softly said. "I guess that every once and a while would not hurt so long as we are careful."

She had enjoyed the break and the time that she got to let her hair down and spend some of her time with her family.

However this trip also provided her with some further insight into various things whether it be the matters of the city, herself or the progress in those around her.

She was most pleased with Evie and the way she handled the situation as things were starting to become dangerous for those involved but also she was able to spot a weak point that belonged to her brother.

Usually her brother was usually soft hearted when it came to many things in the past and would not resort to violence unless it was necessary but today was different because someone had touched a place that they shouldn't have.

Many people have a certain vulnerable point and she had found that her brothers weak point or reverse scale was in fact herself and probably his family.

If someone wished to harm or insulted herself or her family then he may lose reason and get hurt because of acting without thinking things over properly.

While it may be an admirable part of himself to have a bottom line that should not be crossed which would make him so protective of his family, it could also be used against him in various ways whether it be provoking him to act without thinking or even using his family to threaten him to manipulate and control his actions.
