Meeting #1

A meeting was held within a small hut within the death forest outside of the villages walls where many of the heads of each department or organisation had gathered.

Each sat wearing their own mask as they all went over the gains and losses during the period of the flood.

Miranda calmly spoke. "The overall losses during this time for most businesses are much smaller than estimated thanks to the quick preparations made. Many products have been sold out in some stores which have forced them to be temporarily closed down while many are still running, due to the disruption of travel and transportation of goods we can not do much to resupply some places our of our control range. For now those places have been arranged to close and compensate the workers with enough payment and food to help them survive during the remaining time. Warm clothing and medicinal herbs have provided a lot of profits after taking into account the nobles charity and emergency funds that paid for it to help those in need."

Ki calmly nodded and then spoke. "That is good news, how about the food supplies and luxury goods that had been kept and sold?"

Miranda had a look of seriousness on her face behind her mask as she replied. "The family has made a great profit far beyond our expectations because of the state of most places but also the rising popularity of Wolfden City and the other two nearby cities. Although we have sold many goods at high prices and also used some to aid those victims of the flood, we still have enough left to last another month. Is there any plan on what to do with the rest of it and what you hope to use the prodits on?"

Ki tapped on the table slowly and rhythmically as she looked over towards her. "Keep enough to last the month, gift a small portion to any loyal employees as a bonus for their efforts and sell the rest of it for as high of a price as you can. The profits should go into investing in the aftermath of the flood but also further construction and worker costs. Many people will be hungry and be looking to rebuild their lives after surviving, many will be looking for a way forward."

She paused for a short couple of seconds and continued. "Villages have been devastated by the flood, homes ruined, land abandoned, countless livestock dead and resources ruined so this is where we can take the initiative."

Miranda pondered over her words and then spoke. "You mean you wish to purchase the land and territory?"

Ki nodded. "Food supplies and stable grown food will be in short supply for some time and many will be desperate to purchase from the capital and other parts of the Central Lands at high prices once the roads are safe to travel on again. If we can use this time to purchase the ruined villages and farmland in the surrounding area then we can start to rebuild. Some pieces of land may have lost their previous owners while others may be easy to buy from desperate owners trying to feed themselves and survive. The land can be restored and homes can be rebuilt, we can place some of our own people within while getting some survivors to pitch in with the work."

The major effects of the flood would be over very soon but order would not be restored immediately unless someone took charge.

Many people who had survived thanks to the Bombyx family could be used in various ways but the problem was that many had become accustomed to getting handouts.

Once the support stopped, they would be left without a way to live on and would be forced into a more difficult life than before so what was needed was a way for those people to regain some form of goal.

Rebuilding a new home and stable source of food and income on the lands under the Bombyx families ownership was one such goal that could help them live a safe and stable life should they be prepared to work for it.

The Bombyx family would gain control of the farmlands and a large portion of the overall crops grown would go towards creating a steady source of funds while other goods would be used in the restaurants.
