Alert: Skill activated - "Lightning rush"

After our outing we went back to Chaaya's house. It was a small apartment with a bedroom, a main room and a bathroom. I was happy to confirm that this world has plumbing and running water.

"Are you alright sleeping on the floor? I don't have any spare beds or anything but I can give you a sheet." As expected my living conditions would be this bad. Although it wasn't my worst night.

"That is fine, human." I checked my inventory, nothing had changed. I unequipped my new sword and my cloak and equipped the grimoire I got from the boss.

"Here, learn this, so next time you can help me."

"Wh...what didn't I help you?" her voice was shaking and tears welled up in her eyes.

"No… no that's not what I meant just learn this and you can fight." she clutched the book close and ran into her room switching off the lights leaving me in darkness. I didn't even get that sheet.

'Alert: Item - "Summoners grimoire" has been transferred to Master Chaaya'

We woke up in the middle of the night. Chaaya had her clothes on and was shouting at me.

"Come on, those gates won't clear themselves." We got dressed and headed out into the night walking to the fields in silence. I was still lagging behind her. She was so weak and yet she walked into the gate her head held high. It was almost amazing that a human can be this prideful and yet this brave.

'Alert: Master Chaaya has opened a D-rank gate'

The doors swung open and we walked through into the magic, the same feeling washing over me as we were transported into a cave.

'Alert: Hp 140/140'

'Alert: Sp 100%'

'Alert: Mp 100/100'

This time I wasn't going to lose. I readied my sword. This time there was an onslaught of bats. I need to kill all of them? There's like a hundred. I slashed my sword down into the black spot of bats as they flew at us, their screeches sounding through the cave. At least three of them dropped from the air. But the rest charged at me biting into my shoulder. They swarmed around me pushing me back. I swiped at the mass of flying monsters as they hurtled towards me. The bats were dropping like flies but there were dozens of them they seemed impossible to defeat. But behind me a light started to glow and my body felt lighter. I could feel my speed increasing and my agility jumping.

'Alert: Master Chaaya has activated skill - "Boost" ' I

I charged forward, each bat seemed to be suspended in the air, I ran to each one slicing them with my new sword. After what seemed to be five minutes he stopped the bats piled by his feet.

'Alert Rhy has killed horde - "cave bats" '

'Alert: Rhy leveled up and gained rewards.'

I put my point into health. I now had health at level five, strength at level five, speed at level 10. I was level ten.

I checked my inventory and saw that I had gotten a mysterious item.

'Alert: Item classification - Life diviner - C-rank - Item description - determine your path." What the hell does that mean? My path? Does that mean I can stop being a summon and start my life of being a hermit that doesn't see any of the vile humans. I'll activate it tomorrow, maybe I can be free.

"Alright, should we advance? The great thing about these dungeons is that they only have a few monsters and it's a great way of making money.'' What she didn't know was that every monster I kill I grow stronger so soon I should be able to take on C-rank and maybe even B-rank. All I need to do is keep clearing these dungeons. It's standard MMO practise I need to grind the lower monsters and work my way up.

"Yeah sure but was that magic you used before."

"Yes see I can help I used that stupid book you gave me." Her face was angry and her tone was childish. She seemed like a kid throwing a tantrum.

"Wow, that was quick, thank you. I'm not sure I could've done that without you or I'd be so damaged that I couldn't kill the boss." Her face lit up, It's clear she is happy to be praised but I dont get why. She's so arrogant and full of herself. Why does she need praise from me?

"Let's go on then."

"Sure"

We wandered through the cave monsters attacking us from every angle but never in a horde like before. We wandered through the dark caverns, the twisting halls of jagged rock until we reached the door. The similar runes curving over the stone looming over them. As they pushed open the slabs of rock it squealed dust falling. There was a small spring in the middle of a circular room. Light shone onto the water reflecting gently into the pool. It was ideal, picturesque, perfect. The light shone like a spotlight. Then suddenly it was broken. I looked up to the ceiling in horor. Above me was a giant spider clinging to the ceiling saliva dripping from it's giant jaws. It's red eyes glaring down on me.

'Alert: Rhy Has awoken the Gate Boss prepare for battle'

The spider dropped to the floor crashing into the rock and shaking the water. How could I beat that? Maybe it's time to use it. What could it hurt?

'Alert: Skill activated - "Lightning rush" '

Suddenly I was staring at a wall. The stones jurées out. I looked back to see the behind of the spider. It was on the ground flopping around, half of its legs had been cut off.

'Alert: Mp 50/100'

I turned around. Did I really do that? This skill is op! But it drains a boat load of mana.

'Alert: Skill activated - "Lightning rush" '

I was behind Chaaya now. I sheath my sword and blood flew up behind me.
