Chapter 6

SEPTEMBER 17

[It was 4 am, and the sun was just about to rise. Leo's alarm went off, and he awoke from his deep slumber. He checked his watch and saw the time. Still feeling fuzzy, he stands up. He grabs his phone and wears his backpack. On his way down the elevator, he checks his phone for any messages. There are no messages, so tucks his phone in his pocket. On the way out of the building, he passed by the guard and greeted him. The weather was very nice that day, it wasn't as cold but wasn't as hot either. Leo just took the train on the way home to save some time. When he got home, he just sat on the couch to rest a bit more.]

Leo looked up at the ceiling and said, "I didn't anticipate that workload. It's gonna last for like a month or two?" He expanded his arms on the couch.

3 HOURS LATER,

[Leo was snoozing when suddenly a loud bang came from his door. He jumps out of the seat and rushes towards the door to open it up.]

"Bro! What on Earth? You look out of it. What? You're just gonna stare at me? Hurry up! We have school! We have a test in 30 minutes," Klau said out loud.

Leo regained his senses, "GOD! I forgot!"

[Leo quickly prepared, he took a bath, brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and packed his stuff.]

[Leo and Klau we're running to school since it was already 7:20, and they have an exam at 7:30. Leo forgot that his professor reminded them of the earlier schedule since it was 2 exams. Literature and Science.]

[When they arrived at the school, they rushed towards their room and just in time before the tests began. They both took a seat by the window side where they usually sit.]

[Taking the exams, Leo was very focused, but as every problem was stated, he couldn't remember the answers. Leo's lips were fidgeting. When the time ran out he barely just got to answer all the problems.]

["Man, I barely got to think about all the problems. I'm really behind everyone, but I'm getting there. Slowly catching up to them one by one. I'm honestly ashamed I couldn't review last night. But I'm glad I got to tackle some topics before I passed out.]

[Lunch time came, and both Leo and Klau sat at their usual spot in the cafeteria. Then a person sat in the front of the duo.]

"Yuna, why are you here? You don't usually eat with us," Leo gently said.

"I told you that we should hang out more? And you said you cannot. So, I figured out, let's hang out when we can," Yuna replied with such a straightforward look.

"Not at a time like this."

"Why not?"

Klau was thinking to himself, ["man, here we go again, these two aren't couples. But, they definitely feel and sound like they are. Now, there's no escaping this situation other than the others. Yuna will not let me get away this time, for sure".]

"Klau, tell her why I couldn't do this for now!" Leo said.

"Uhm, he needs to focus on his studies. Leo told me he forgot most of the answers in the test," Klau said awkwardly.

"I get it then, but don't worry. I won't bother you much more."

[Awkward silence engulfed the place where the three of them were sitting.]

[Leo and Yuna attracted some attention in the cafeteria while the two of them were eating.]

"Hey, isn't that Yuna? The daughter of the famous Wuzuki, what is she doing with that boy?"

"She perhaps likes the guy, from the looks of it though it's very awkward," replied the guy.

[A lot of people were mumbling around Leo and Yuna. They heard everyone talking about the two of them. They stared at everybody who was mumbling. Everyone became silent. And their table was filled with awkwardness again.]

"Hey Yuna, don't be mad. It's just been tough lately, but things are going exactly as planned."

"I'm not, I'm just concerned about you. You are like the best of all friends to me, even though all I hear is " you're such a nuisance. Stay back, you're annoying" I got used to it, hehe. But it doesn't mean you can continue to abuse me," Yuna said in a cute way accompanied with a warm smile.

Leo was shocked by what Yuna said, his heart skipped a beat, ["what nonsense is she spouting now? She is rock solid on that statement.]

"Yeah, yeah! I know that we're good friends. That's carved right into my soul," Leo laughed and combed his hair with his hands.

[The three of them finished their meals. And then, they all went back to each other's respective classrooms.]

[Classes finished and as usual, Klau and Leo were the last ones that left the room. And as soon as they opened the door, they were surprised that Yuna wasn't there waiting for them. The two of them just left the school campus.]

[On their way home they were passing through the park where Leo usually hangs out. Leo spotted Yuna at a distance.]

Leo came to take a closer look when he confirmed it was Yuna he sent Klau to go home, "You should go ahead, I'll talk to her."

"Ok then, take care, " Klau said.

[Since Leo worked overtime last night. He was given the option to go to work later at 5 instead of 3:30. So, he took his chance to relieve himself.]

Leo approached Yuna slowly, and when he sat gently beside her. He said, "why are you here? Shocker, you weren't outside our classroom waiting for us."

Yuna looked up and looked right, she smiled, "well, I didn't want to. You can't control what I do right?"

"Yeah, of course, I can't."

"And if you're thinking you are the only one who can come by to this park, you are mistaken. I come to this place very often as well,"``She looks up into the sky.``" Beautiful, isn't it?

Leo looked up as well and looked at Yuna, "Yeah, very beautiful."

Yuna saw Leo looking at her so she looked at him and smiled. She then said, "Don't you have worked? You seem pretty chill for a person whose schedule is very packed.

Leo didn't know how to tell Yuna what he did, so he just summarized it, " I went overtime last night and stayed at the office, and I went home this morning to prepare for school."

Yuna was surprised, "oh, that's great," she said and punched Leo on the arm gently.

"Yeah, I've been adjusting lately. I was thinking about you, I have a question, but I forgot," Leo was annoyed that he forgot his question.

"What about it? Thinking about me? Don't make me laugh, HAHA. I have a question," Yuna said, as she fixed her posture while sitting.

"Yeah?"

Yuna was curious, "why do you call me a "nuisance"? I really don't get why? Do you have a reason why or no such reason, just to tease me?"

"Well, there's a reason. But why would I tell you? It's personal and I don't think you deserve to know why," Leo replied in a teasing manner.

"Wh--, tell me! I'm curious! If there's a reason, I'm confident that I should know at least the bare bones of it. It's about me after all, right?" Yuna with her curiosity gets closer to Leo.

Leo was put in a tight situation, he pushes Yuna away, but she won't stop, "I told you no, A NO IS A NO! You should know it best!"

Yuna was disappointed, she just sat down properly again and pouted, "You are very unfair, you know that? And also a big jerk."

"Yeah yeah, I've heard it all before. Been called a rascal, jerk, insane, unfair, idiot, stupid, and whatever else," Leo just said casually without any care.``"and it's already 4:30, I better head to the office now. Are you gonna be fine on your own?" He added while he slowly walked away.

"Yeah, I'll be fine on my own. Take care, one more thing. If you have time again tomorrow, meet me here at the same time," Yuna said and smiled as Leo walked away slowly.

"Sure"

[Leo went to work. And as usual, everything was stressful and everyone was working extremely hard to meet all the deadlines for the day. And have extra time to start tomorrow's workload. Leo was exhausted again.]

[It was 10 pm and Leo was on his way home. He stopped by a convenience store. After buying something, he just went straight home. When he was unlocking his door, he saw an envelope under it. He picked it up and just dropped it on the table, where his notebook was. And went to bed since he was tired.]

THE NEXT DAY

[Leo woke up sluggish. His arms were feeling heavy due to all the workload. His day seriously isn't starting great.]

[He was on his way to school. But he was surprised when someone was waiting for him downstairs in his apartment.]

Leo was surprised and didn't know what to say, so he just said, "Good morning, Yuna!"

Yuna sees how tired Leo was, and that he was just trying to put a big attitude, "you are absolutely out of it. Need help carrying your stuff?"

Leo's came to his senses, but his vision is still blurry, "ah, no need. I can handle myself, let's go stop by a convenience store first. I'm gonna get some coffee," he slowly said.

"Sure, let me at least carry that notebook of yours," Yuna insisted.

"I said no!" Leo looked at the notebook Yuna asked to carry. He was shocked it was the notebook that usually sits at his table, "oh Yuna, I'll be right back. I got the wrong notebook, this wasn't the one I needed."

"Yeah sure, I'll wait here."

["Man, Leo looks so messed up. He didn't even properly groom himself. What's up with him, except the fact that his schedule is packed for the next month or two. Even though he won't break, I can seriously see even through his smallest detail that he isn't doing great. I'll just be with him for the day as usual anyway. I better take care of him because no one will."]

"I'm ready! Let's go!" Leo enthusiastically said and smiled.

"That looks better for a guy who's tired,"

["Yuna looks great today. Feels like she's in a good mood today. I wonder why she never shares a lot of things with me, half of the reason is that I'm mean to her, so. That's very reasonable"]

[The two of them just casually walked to the store and Leo got his coffee to energize.]

["Leo seems fine to me, he's a silent guy as expected."] Yuna looked at Leo and cheekily smiled``, ["everything is gonna be ok someday. Someday. We'll be on good terms with each other. Be friends."]

["This is crazy awkward. I can't keep Yuna entertained, I'm an introvert so, that has its cons I guess. And she's the opposite. I don't mind the company she's been giving me recently. It's fine being with someone even though it's just silence between us. I'm more than glad to be with her, I should thank her someday.]
