CHAPTER 23

The ride was silent and only the music coming from the Car was the only noise that could be heard. Yeah, I called it noise because I didn't even understand the things that were being said. I was surprised that I was a bit mad at Marcus for yelling at me and not even saying an apology.

Was he even supposed to apologize? I didn't want to stress an irrelevant issue as I stared through the window. The city looked beautiful, who would ever think that I was ever going to visit such a place? Everywhere looked sterile and perfect.

The window went down and I stared at Marcus who was also busy gazing at the city through the other window. The fresh air kept slamming on my face which I loved so much, the beautiful city began to fade away when we entered a long portico.

We kept going for Three minutes before a huge mansion came into view. The building was the biggest I had seen in my whole life, was I even welcomed to such a mansion? “We are here,” Marcus finally spoke after a while of keeping mute.

I opened the door to the tremendous parking lot. There was a bar also, there were gorgeous flowers that made this mansion stand out. This house was impressive and quite luxurious I must admit.

I strode to a particular flower which caught my attention. I bent down to feel the softness, “Do you like it?” Marcus interrupted and I wiggled my head indicating a No.

“Shall we?” he asked, pulling his hands for me to hold. I stood there for a minute thinking whether to take them or not, I was in all shock when he intertwined our hands and led us to the entrance.

There was a guard who had opened the door of the house before tilting to greet us. The outside was just a show because my mouth hangs open at the magnificent mansion before me.

It was very huge with a decorated flower vase. The house was painted with milky paint! The ceiling was roofed perfectly. I was about to touch the bouquet when Marcus cleared his throat and the vase came crashing on the floor.

I bent down to pick it in a hurry but he stopped me before I could even do that. “Cindy?” he called as a woman dressed corporately came inside. She looked beautiful with her makeup and her clothes hugged her body perfectly showing off her boobs.

“Welcome boss, I didn't know you had returned, I would have left,” she said, not even glancing my way. “You can leave tomorrow, can you take care of this mess?” he said pointing at the broken vase on the floor. “Yeah, sure!” she said, nodding her head.

He walked upstairs as I bent my head with Sunshine on my shoulder standing at the exact spot. I wasn't going to just move anywhere I like without being asked to, I looked up to notice him staring at him.

“Aren't you coming?” he asked with a confused expression which I couldn't read. “Yeah, sorry!” I said slogging towards him, I stared at him to notice a frown on his face.

What did I do again? He walked upstairs with me following behind. After walking for what took like four minutes we finally appeared in front of two doors which were opposite each other.

He opened the one at his front, he walked inside and I came after him inward like a lost puppy who just found it, owner. “Do you want to share a room with me?” he asked harshly. Why was he being nice one minute and harsh the other minute?

“I’m sorry,” I said with a cracking voice which instantly made him calm. “That your room, the one opposite mine,” he let out-earning me a nod as I nudged the door closed and unlocked mine.

Why did he make our rooms opposite each other? Did he even think I was going to escape? I don't even know anybody here in Chicago so it was a waste of time if I was going to elude.

The door opened and Cindy walked inside with a smile that I couldn't detect. I stood up instantly from the spacious bed I had been sitting on, “you must be personal for Marcus to let you in this room.” she said with a smirk on her face.

“No, I just happened to be here due to some circumstances,” I let out looking miserable after recalling the kids I had let down.

She glanced at me as she picked Sunshine and it brought out his teeth aggressively at her. He had never been aggressive to anyone, “what's wrong with this kitten? Where did you get it from?” she inquired as she took some steps backward.

“I would be downstairs if you need anything,” she said before sauntering out of the room. It was late already in Chicago as I closed the windows and sat on my bed. Today had been hectic, would I even be able to escape from Marcus.

I knew I just couldn't so I was going to brush that idea forever. I was still in my thoughts when a tray of food was brought to my room, “the boss wants you to eat before napping. He also implied that you would need some painkillers! So you can take two with the water by the tray,” Cindy said before leaving the room.

I was surprised that he cared about my health and still made sure I ate. Maybe he was just acting up, I mean his father was a ruthless Gang leader and also a Dangerous Mafia which was known all over the world.

He might be planning something bad against me but whatever it is I hoped that he didn't find out that I was having Noah's baby. I yawned at the fact that I was feeling sleepy, my head was still slightly aching and I was indeed glad that Marcus had sent those painkillers.

I drew the tray close to my bed as I kept munching on the food. I closed my eyes at the sweetness of the food, after taking my medication I dozed off without realizing it.

I hope tomorrow gets better than today.
