Chapter 9

"Owens University" Helen could not help but exclaim.

When Helen came back from work,Mark told her that he would go to school,she was happy beyond measure but when he mentioned 'Owens University, the happiness turned sour.

They were rich but not to the extent of affording that school for crying out loud, the school was 3rd in the list of top five prestigious school in the whole of Country A and now her only son wants to make her go bankrupt, that won't be possible.

"Mom you worry too much and it's not a good thing for your health,you are still young" Mark reprimanded his mom like a 'father talking to his child'

"I can't help but worry about you,you make me worry too much son.....you should hold yourself accountable if i suddenly become old while I'm still young,tsk" His mom complained and clicked her tongue.

Mark sniggered at his mom,who kept on frowning, "Mom,you don't have to pay a dime" he announced

"How do you mean?" his mom asked

"A friend said he would...."

Helen looked as his son agape and narrowed her eyes at him.."Are you joking or you been serious right now??" she asked just to be certain

"I am been serious now mom,he is very rich and happens to have connection in the school so he said he will help me....you should be happy mom" he lied because he didn't want his mom to know that the friend he mentioned was actually her boss,he was certain that it will freak her out if she finds out.

"Son i am happy for you though i do not know the friend you mentioned and would like to meet him some day but it's a gold thing that you will be going to school now,it makes me very happy...thank you son !" his mom said with tears in her eyes.

She was born with a silver spoon,and as the only child,her parents showered her with love and pampered her so much that she grew up not able to do anything a woman should do. She met Mark's father at a friend's party and they both fell in love, but sadly their love didn't last long as her Father's business began to crumble,the only way her father could save his business was by marrying his daughter out to his friend's son who was a rich man. Helen's world shattered as her father married her out but she couldn't do anything still because she loved her dad as well and didn't want him heartbroken as a result to his business bankruptcy, a year after her marriage she started seeing Mark's dad again to the extent of getting pregnant for him,her husband found out and drove her out of his house with the pregnancy,she was the reason she lost her dad and also the father of her child, making her to suffer a lot especially after giving birth to Mark.

As Mark grew up,he began learning how to cook in order to care of his mom,he also learnt many other things and never asked of his dad because he found out that whenever she hears about him,it breaks her down and he hated seeing his mom in tears or pains. He managed to attend middle and high school and refused going further,he preferred to work in secret than go to school because to him it's a waste of money,his mom needed the money to take care of herself as she was still a young woman so why would she spend it on his school fees?!! but now the case is different....,he will go to school but his mom won't spend a dime,it's something to be happy about of cos .....

"Mom no need to thank me,in fact i should be the one thanking you...I Love you mom" Mark said and hugged his mom.

"I love you too son" his mom replied hugging him back,

"I'll be going to the school tomorrow for the registration... don't know when I'll be back"

"just take care of yourself" Helen told her son as she rubbed his back passionately.
