Shaela blinked and looked toward their guide, then turned back to the desk, but the man there was still someone he shouldn’t be.

The small group was led to a huge infirmary and greeted by men all dressed in white robes like Tinct. The men transported the Baret Wray from his makeshift travois to a stretcher before leading it—and him—away. Tinct led the group to a separate building, which served as a hostel for visitors.

Once inside, Shaela and Elke went immediately to sleep, with Airk standing watch to ease his own mind. Jaelin remained outside the infirmary, anxiously awaiting news from the medical Brethren. As night fell, weariness settled on them all. Though Airk soon went to sleep, Jaelin stayed at the infirmary, dozing on one of the benches outside.
