Tom Foster and Noah Webster have been together for three years. “According to this, the parcel includes several acres, most of it nearly vertical—only about four acres of it are relatively level—and extends some distance back up the gully you described,” Hugh said.


“Write up a contract,” Tom said, “and we’ll make an offer and give you a deposit right now.”


“I wonder if the other Realtor can point out where the property lines are on the ground?” Noah said.


“We’ll give him a call as soon as I finish writing this up,” Hugh said. “Do you want to offer full price?”


“Based on the age of the sign, it’s been for sale for a very long time,” Tom said. “Let’s cut our offer back to about eighty percent of the asking price and see what happens. Tell him you’ve got a buyer who can write a check for the full amount as soon as the title is checked.”


“Cash always gets people’s attention,” Hugh said.
