Chapter 83

“Let’s get this nice airplane taken care of,” Mike said, “so we can get out of here.”

“If he asks you how much it cost,” I said, “double or triple the amount. I don’t want him to get any ideas.”

“Babe,” Mike said, “it would be rude to ask. Besides, I know what the going rate is for this model Cessna. As long as I have access to one of the two planes belonging to my client and his firm, I wouldn’t even consider buying one.”

When the plane had been taken care of, we got in my car and headed home. I was driving so Mike and Charles could sit in the backseat and talk airplanes, which they did all the way to the house. I pulled up in the driveway and parked beside my truck.

“I like the truck,” Philip said. “My nephew and his boyfriend have a couple of Rangers just like yours, except they’re bright red. They use them in their lawn care and landscaping business.”
