MICKEY ARRIVED HOME somewhat later than usual the next evening, but didn’t find Chris in the kitchen for a change, so he headed for the porch.
Chris was in the swing and looked up from what he was reading when he heard the front door open.
“This is the first time in days that you haven’t been in the kitchen,” Mickey said.
“Are you asking me why? I didn’t hear a question there.”
“No, it was just a statement born of curiosity. Now I’ll ask a question: what’s up?”
Chris stood to hug and kiss Mickey.
“What’s up is that we’re going to go over to the new house and see what’s going on.”
“What could possibly be going on at night?”
“Go change. Then we’ll see.”
“Okay.”
Once Mickey was dressed in casual clothes, Chris drove them to the new house.
“When did we get a dumpster in the driveway?” Mickey said.
“It’s not a dumpster. The proper name is ‘roll-off container’.”
“Well, excuse me… and I sit corrected. Why do we need it?”
