“That’s all we can do for now,” Brody said, “and I hear sirens in the distance.”
A few minutes later, an EMT ambulance arrived, and Brody told the attendants what he’d done, and why.
“Sounds like this guy was lucky you got to him,” one of the attendants said.
“We’ll see what we can do to stop the bleeding, just as soon as we get the rest of his pants cut away,” the other attendant said. “When was the tourniquet applied?”
Brody gave the attendants all the information they needed, then he was questioned by one of the Highway Patrol officers, who was filling out an accident report. An hour later, he and Brian were told they could continue on their trip.
“Nothing like a little excitement to make a trip interesting,” Brody said, as he drove away from the scene.
“That was a little too exciting, if you ask me,” Brian said.
“All in a day’s work, my boy.”
“That’s easy for you to say. You’ve spent the last two years doing that kind of stuff.”
