Chapter 51

“Holy shit,” Tom said, “that was one hell of a conversation.”

“You’re telling me.”

“So,” Tom said, “the question du jouris, what does Bobby do now?”

“More or less,” Noah said.

“Well,” Tom said, “last I heard, there are over fifty thousand students at Florida, not to mention ten or twenty thousand more at Santa Fe College.”

“So?” Noah said.

“Assume for the sake of argument that half of them are male,” Tom said. “That’s thirty thousand or more. Using the generally accepted figures, ten percent of those males are probably gay, and that’s a lot of available talent.”

“So what?” Noah said. “They don’t go around carrying signs saying ‘I’m gay’.”

“Of course they don’t,” Tom said, “but these days things are so open, I’ll bet there are listings for gay and lesbian support groups in the Alligatorand maybe even in some official college publications. What I’m saying is Bobby has access to a lot of resources, so he should take advantage of them.”
