Chapter 78

Tom walked up, stood beside Noah, and said, “What’s up?”

“Mr. Singletary wants me to audition in Atlanta when we’re up there next month,” Noah said.

“Really?” Tom said.

“We’re planning a major performance of the Elijahnext spring,” Singletary said. “There will be two performances and two or three recording sessions. We haven’t recorded that work in nearly fifteen years, and the plan is to do so with fresh young voices in the solo parts.”

“Do you have a card?” Tom said.

“Certainly.”

They exchanged cards.

Tom gave him his concert date and said, “I have two or three sessions scheduled on the organ at St. Philip’s Cathedral Friday and Saturday before the concert. I’m not sure how flexible they are about changing the times, but we can work something out.”

“Can’t you just let us have this young man for the day?” Singletary said.

“I’m his page turner,” Noah said.

“Ah, I see.”
