Chapter 87

“Your day will come.”

“Yeah, I guess,” he said, “sooner or later.”

“We need to start thinking about colors,” Tom said.

“Colors?”

“What colors do we want to paint the walls? I sort of like neutral colors for the living areas downstairs, but we could get a little creative with the upstairs bedrooms if you want.”

“Neutral everywhere is fine with me. My mom tried painting the bedrooms in our house different colors once, but everyone got tired of it in a hurry, and she eventually went back to off-white or beige.”

“That works for me. This is going to be fun.”

“Fun?”

“Decorating a house together. Don’t you think it’ll be fun?”

“Well,” Noah said, “when you put it that way.”

“Let’s go to bed, and I’ll put it anywhere/any way you like.”

“Now you’re talking.”

“Speaking of beds, that master bedroom will hold a king-size bed. We can put our present queen-size bed in the larger of the two guest rooms.”

“Never mind that,” Noah said. “You mentioned sex—and we’re not home yet.”
