“There aren’t many people who can identify this guy on sight,” I said.
“And you’re one of them, aren’t you?” the boss said.
“Mike and I have both seen him in the showers at the YMCA. You can’t hide much under those circumstances.”
“I hope you’re taking some precautions,” Sarah said.
“I brought an extra gun with me this trip, and I intend to leave it in the cabin when we go home.”
Mike emerged from the house carrying two folding chairs. Thor followed him out onto the deck and began exploring.
“Truck’s unloaded,” he said.
“You should have waited,” I said. “I’d have helped you.”
“There wasn’t that much to unload. Be right back.”
He went inside for minute and returned with a glass of iced tea in each hand.
“The master bedroom is all made up,” Sarah said. “Henry and I are sleeping in the guest room tonight.”
“You didn’t have to do that,” I said.
“George,” she said, “nobody has to do anything. We’re doing it because we want to, and it’s the right thing to do.”
