Chapter 38

We left, leaving Kevin and David alone in the steam room. After a quick shower, Rion and I dressed and headed to our cars. In the parking lot, we spotted George and Mike in the middle of a good-bye embrace and kiss.

“That’s sweet,” I said, “but I’m not quite ready for PDAs.”

“Yeah,” Rion said.

“I guess we just met the two guys you told me about yesterday.”

“So it would seem.”

“See you this evening.”

“Don’t overdo it,” he said.

“No way.”

When I walked through Marjorie’s office on the way to mine, she spotted me and jumped up to hug me.

“Be gentle,” I said. “My back is still tender—in spots.”

“You don’t know how glad I am to have you back.”

“Probably about as glad as I am to be back.”

“Yeah.”

“Anything important I need to know about?”

“In your in-basket, in order of importance.”

“That’s my girl. Thanks.”
