“What about the privacy issue?” Willard said.

“Sorry, I forgot about that. As it happens, I’d been wondering about my sexuality for several years. While she was gone, I went to a couple of gay bars to check out the scene and wound up meeting someone I really care about. I’m not really concerned about myself being ‘outed’, as they say, but I really don’t think it’s fair that he should be, in the process. In any event, if I’m asked where I live, I’m not comfortable giving out my current address—especially after what happened.”
