Mitch Edwards has it made: at twenty-nine, he’s just been named partner at one of the largest law firms in the city and he’s just bought his first house. “I guess I was a romantic at heart, even as a teenager,” I said. “I really expected that first time—it was the summer before I went to Harvard—to be something special. All my friends could talk about was doing ‘it’, but when I finally did ‘it’, all I could think was, ‘What was all the fuss about?’”


Mrs. Odum said, “You mean that, as writers of romance novels might say, you didn’t feel the earth move and hear the angels singing. That sort of thing.”
